Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 THIS IS GREAT SPORTSMANSHIP AND I KNOW ANY PEOPLE IN LANARKSHIRE WILL REALLY APPRECIATE THE EFFORT BEING MADE BY ALL FANCIERS IN ENGLAND TO RE-PATRIATE BIRDS AND THE SAME WILL GO FOR FLYERS FROM THE PENTLAND FEDERATION WHO ARE ALSO DOWN A MASS OF BIRDS AND I WILL PERSONNALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THIS FACT IN THE NEXT ARTICLE I SUBMIT ABOUT LANARKSHIRE SO THANKS VERY MUCH
morton Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 I have got a Lanarkshire YB just come in to me tonight, on the Isle of Wight. It has got Dalzell FC, Lanarkshire stamped on it's wing. Its ring no. is SU06 L7118. Very thin and been injured under the wing. Can anyone help please with who I can contact to help get it home ? Thanks a lot
peterpau Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 It's not just those from the north east that have them. I have a bird from Edingburgh that will go to Berwick at the weekend. (At the owners request) Courtesy of one of our drivers in digs down here.

IN AN EARLIER POST THAT IS WHAT I SAID I WAS GOIN TO WRITE BUT NOT ON BEHALF OF THE OFFICIALS BUT ON BEHALF OF THE PIGEON FANCIERS
Guest WINGS 04 Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN LOOKING AFTER THE STRAY BIRDS BUT THEM GOING IN THE STRAY CENTRE WILL ONLY HELP TO MAKE THE BALANCE SHEET LOOK GOOD FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TO BLAME FOR THE BIRDS GOING MISSING IN THE FIRST PLACE
Guest Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Personally I don't think the balance sheet should be even up for discussion. Flyers should be very very thankful that so many people have gone to such great lenghts to get the birds back where they belong.
Keepsmilingqueen Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Sorry if i sound stupid forgive me im a novice, but what exactly is the stray centre ??? iv never heard of it ;D
REDCHEQHEN Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 My geography is not very good - so I have no idea of the whereabouts of Midlothian - but it was a fancier who collected the birds today, ALL Scottish birds, not just his own - or own feds birds, collected them whether they had SU rings on or GB, and he was collecting plenty, I was about his third collection, and he had about 60 pigeons, he was going through to Darlington to collect 55-60 pigeons from Micky Brennans corn store - and had a few more collections after that. I hope that he is home or well on his way home by now, as he has had a very long day, and I hope that all the strays will soon be tucked up in their own lofts, they are in need of a good rest and a bit of pampering. All the fanciers that I spoke to on the phone were delighted to get their pigeons reported, Good Luck to you all for the rest of the season :K)
REDCHEQHEN Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Sorry if i sound stupid forgive me im a novice, but what exactly is the stray centre ??? iv never heard of it ;D The NEHU has one at Hartlepool ( for instance) , its a holding area for stray/lost pigeons
Keepsmilingqueen Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 thanx redcheqhen i had no idea the nehu had one ;D How do birds end up at the stray centre then ?? i thought when you reported a stray the owner arranged collection from your loft
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 thanks red cheq hen for giving me richards phone number i called somebody earlier on this evening vince hendry and he was with sammy rodger and they went straight to edinburgh and picked up the lanarkshire birds tonight and are bringing them back home 53 in total for lanarkshire and he says there is still a lot of scottish birds down there.
