  1. If it's any help to anyone; I use red waterproof ink and it never fades and lasts all season. One year I got fed up with having strays in with no wing stamp and reported it to the RPRA and they did nothing.........
  2. Well done Jimmy, let's hope a few more join. For such a sensible charity it can do no harm.
  3. You beat me to it Jimmy, suddenly thought that this would be the place to post SBS web site. If some more of us join them it'll give them more clout. They've come a long way since I first heard about them.
  4. Glad you like it Jimmy, I have joined them. Had a good chat to them at the Game Fair this year and they are so down to earth and sensible. Actually I think it's called "common sense"
  5. Just checked it Rose, thought there might be a section B verified LOL !! But Chale Racepoint for Telephone Verification not on there yet.
  6. NFC birds cleared very well at Chale, few odd ones didn't want to come out of crates. The report was that the Solent was clear. Good to hear you saw them going through Mick.
  7. Very good idea Rose. I would think the RPRA could organise this sort of thing. I for one would pay more subs. Because if we have too many more of these allegedly terrible libs the "aninal rights" could begin to take more notice. Just a thought....
  8. May I respectfully suggest looking into the work of the Songbird Survival Organisation/Charity. They are an up and coming charity that is concentrating on the survival of songbirds through conservation work that includes controlling mammal and bird predators. Two of the reasons they believe why the songbird population is decreasing is domestic cats & Raptors especially sparrowhawks. Have a look at www.songbird-survival.org.uk. They do not like the RSPB .....
  9. Maybe some send pigeons (especially YB) that aren't up to the job ? Do we all breed too many ? Do we say "They've got to go" It's not always the race controllers fault. I wouldn't want the job. I'm bad enough worrying about training !
  10. Maybe yours were in a bottom crate on the leeward side ???
  11. I have done darkness for two seasons now, and purely for the reason that I know their feathering will be OK and it is one less thing for me to worry about, and for them, they have a good covering. If they have to miss a week you know they aren't going to fall apart. They look great but you have to keep reminding yourself that they are still only babies. Don't think it has a lot to do with winning either
  12. George Wood takes all our birds for marking and he has always gone to Frome. He is a great chap and does loads of work for island fanciers. This year though I don't think hardly anyone has flown a National race.
  13. More £ than that Rose I would have had to get them off the island and up to Frome first !! I think it would of done their little heads in too !
  14. Thanks for that, anyone tried Sootjens (spelling ?)
  15. Thanks for that, anyone tried Sootjens (spelling ?)
  16. I would doubt a lib tomorrow, Rose. But I bet it doesn't rain here, we havn't had any of any use for weeks ! I thought about sending a couple Mick but 4 miles due West at lib is asking a bit much of them !!
  17. Just been to see the NFC pigeons at Chale. The pigeons all looked very happy and relaxed. They were being fed at the time and there is water on three sides of each crate permanently. Hopefully will get to see the lib. Good luck to all taking part.
  18. Has anyone got an opinion on what type of pigeon is best suited to 100-250 mile races ? Or what strain do you like ?
  19. White Vision - (see Jimmy White's post No. 63) This awesome pigeon's achievement is the story I tell people who don't know what pigeons did during the wars. There are so many people who have no idea what they did. And of all the ones I have read about, for some reason White Vision has captured my imagination.
