  1. Some of us on the IoW call them in by saying "cmone, cmone" too. Then we have "Namit" (don't know how you spell it) which is the mid morning snack break for the farm workers etc

    AULD REEKIE

She returned a week after the race - totally flown out, no body weight and he thought he should put her down but as she meant so much to him he gave her glucose water and put her in her nest box. But she was dead the next morning. She was named after his late wife.

    AULD REEKIE

I've just been reading the Homing World and it says Auld Reekie did not go to Alencon and will not race again this year and might go to stock next year. I also read about poor Jcakie Ritchie and his hen Shirley. Very sad for him.
  4. Well done, Rose.
  5. I.OW - 50% white cloud, no wind, sunny. Channel clear and calm
  6. I keep a live catch trap in the feed store all the time. When they start coming in around autumn time, I can have quite a few in one trap. They are disposed of very sportingly ! But never keep feed in the loft. I would be horrified to have mice in the loft. Salmonella - very scary.....

    Libs sunday

Hope it went well, the channel was pretty murky this morning (I overlook it on the south west coast of the IoW)
  8. GB02A52515 - missing from Berwick last week. If you see him his name is Flash !! Thanks
  9. Mick, My members want me to write officially to the Fed, so, yes there will be support.
  10. Yelverton. Fougeres, Messac, Cholet, Messac But don't hold your breath. It'll probably change !!!!! I understand that George Gelder has told all secretarys.
  11. Let's wait for the next race prg. shall we. I make it number 6 ! My phone bill is extortionate !!
  12. Mick, I guess that you are right. I have got pigeons now that I have raced from N, S, E and W. They truly are amazing ! And I know I worry too much about them but I can't help it !!!!
  13. I've always found that your nest box size is determined by which "fronts" you use. (that's if you buy ready made ones) In my opinion doors on the front are essential. Don't forget when pairing up there are times that you need to shut them in. Also depending on which system you fly you may need to keep them contained in their boxes.
  14. In a way I thought I was lucky, when the Solent Fed changed and went West, I had the opportunity of sending some North with another club. Thinking I could get them to the Perth Classic. Now it's a nightmare ! I really don't want to switch at this late stage. Why oh why couldn't we all of been satisfied with one year North Road. My pigeons have coped with it (so far)
  15. Well said. The most important thing in all this is the welfare of our birds. Take a step back, think of the birds, and not our own glory.
  16. Don't know about anyone else, but I'm completely worn out, contacting all the club members with all these Solent Fed changes of race prog. Having just told them it was Sennen Cove I had to go and tell them it was now Yelverton and POSSIBLY Fougeres next week. I've lost track of the ferry bookings (IoW to mainland) We can't get on one on a Friday at the drop of a hat. And sorry to offend anyone, but I still think it has been pretty badly managed.

    SOLENT FED

The Fed birdage has everything to do with whether there is a Classic or National on that week. A few years ago the Solent Fed didn't even have a race on National weeks. Were members frightened of going North this year ? I was looking forward to the challenge. What's the point in west coast racing ? if you are racing to the IoW it's rubbish. (or is it the pigeons!) And if the Fed were trying to stick as close to their original programme why did they originally go North ? All we are asking is that we have a programme and stick to it.

    SOLENT FED

In total agreement with Pompey Mick & Richard, the only reason for low birdage was the weather. Funny how some know where we are going before the meeting ?? But I have also heard on another grape vine that it might be Wadebridge. Club secs need to know a programme, members need to know, they need to prepare birds for races, but they don't know where or how far these races are. Going west has put paid to some of our members competeing in the next Classic. But then is there going to be a Classic ? And will it be Perth ?
  19. Same problems, recently. depatch chap said he didn't know why there was a delay so spoke to the manager, she said the delivery time quoted was for AFTER they decided to despatch it. When I spoke to her it hadn't been despatched but I got it the next day !! Funny that...... But shall be buying else where in future.

    SOLENT FED

Just saying what our club members would like, the pigeons have been messed about this year.

    SOLENT FED

Thanks for that. Can't see it being France at the mo. If and when we do go we would prefer Picauville. I think we all need to know a programme now, instead of all this not knowing. But guess just be thankful we're racing.
