Guest Vic Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Dear Stuart, Thanks for the invite, but I can't make it, due to putting my birds together on Jan. 9th. Most should have laid by then, but we always get a couple of slow ones. I thought the hatchet was well buried, during the old pipa days. Incidentally, I didn't get to read the replies to my last posting, (site for sore eyes), because, Whoosh! it had disappeared when I logged in the next day.I should imagine that it didn't go down too well with some. But as you know, I have always argued the case against GREED, which in my mind has been the main cause of the state that we are in today. Anyway let's hope you have a pleasurable and profitable weekend at Blackpool. Sincerely, Vic.
swilcox Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 Vic Im starting to see your point of view, there are many trying to sell crap and it doesnt really help those who are trying there utmost to do things proberly. Take 1/2 the auction there full of average birds at best and some people just take pigeons to Blackpool trying to catch people out. But i would add that pigeon fanciers are getting very well educated and tend to know what they are looking for nowadays, sites like pigeonbasics see to that. As for profit well its more important that people like our birds because at the end of the day thats what is important, that and our own race results!!!!! Only last week a guy called me to see wether a pigeon he was buying was worth the £550 he was paying for it!!! I made a few calls a purchased the pigeon from the AustrianGerman seller for £210. i made it up to £250 to give myself a little something!! He was nearly caught for an extra £250 so im sorry to say it does happen. Stuart
Roland Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Don't you think that the Auctioneers have to put their hand up for some of it! Yes I know they can't advertise 'Selling pseudo birds that are suppose to be good, but are crap'! Etc. But on the other hand, many have factious claims, done by very many different ways ... least not the 'Name' that vouches for a certain party. One swallow never makes a summer, and the saying 'He is one to be beaten if you are to win' etc. use to hold water, now many holes have been drilled in the bottom of that one, as they smile and glumily say 'Wel' eh ehe eh heeee 'If you don't beat his... eh eh, then he'd be beating you lo, so you must beat him ehe eh hee'. And many more scenario's! Just look at the columnist that promote crap, and they MUST know different. And the beat goes on. Vic if your not going, then I shalln't bother either. Most see and stay with their club mates and talk Tavern Dribble, and I like this time to get away from that lol... But I will just go one day, and listen to others, and when I hear some sense, and honesty as I see / hear being spoken I'll introduce me self and ask to join in. I'll change me name to ... well Kipps I think lol.

HOMER49 Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 QUITE RIGHT STUART NIP IN AND MAKE SOME EASY MONEY FOR YOURSELF, AND 250 PLUS 250 MAKES 500 NOT 550 Hi Tam Iam sure the guy who purchased the pigeon is delighted at the saving hes made Cheers Homer 49
swilcox Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 Tammy I bought the pigeon for £210 and passed it on for a charge of £250. The original price was £550 so you are correct i actually saved him £300 for that pigeon. The reason why the price was so in the first place was it was going through another 2 people.
