Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 today recieved a message from a fellow fancier who recieved some birds from me today ...where he should have had them yesterday,when he opened the boxes which werent amtrak boxes but larger ones...found one of the cocks had been pecked by another ,these birds had not been feed or watered since thursday when they had left my premises. the birds had left the cardiff depot and then went to bristol where they stayed over night there.and the next day i feel that this is disgraceful and only confirms all the bad press amtrak gets is justified...anyone know wot procedure there is to make a claim for compensation from amtrak?...paul
Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 i am not trying to defend amtrack in anyway but i think its up to the person who sends pigeons to make sure that they have a supply of feed and water correct me if i am wrong but is amtracks only concern in delivering the birds (plus robbing you of money ) the lad up the road from me got birds delivered the other day and found his boxes had been interfered with in other words ripped open a bit to see what was inside or what colour maybe ,just my opinion ,i think if we start to ask them to feed and water them then we will be paying a lot more

Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 the reason ppl use amtrak is because theres little other option around and in some area,s amtrak are the only choice to send or recieve pigeons.these birds were in the boxes 2 days instead of the next day delivery ordered. how on earth can u feed and water the birds u send when they have left ur place and in amtraks hands ? just as many moan at the ones thats having bad service than the ones thats having bad service moan. if i saw that a fellow flyer was having bad service from a company namely amtrak ,then i would feel glad it aint happening to me ,,and not commenting on someones bad misfortune in the manner some do!!! ps ...sammy m8...amtrak had told the guy because they fooked up they would be feeding and watering the birds...their words not anybody elses. there was no reason given why the birds that were picked up at 9.30 thursday morning, were still in bristol friday night..before being shipped to scotland arriving today..
Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 have a look at the fone nummers i put up about courier services and give them a fone and find out about them maybe a lot better and cheaper than amtrack and quite sure if they get enough it would make it worth while for them u not think so its a big monopoly more than amtrack try it

The local branch got onto the bristol hub and assured me the birds would be fed and watered due to it being their botch-up. chickadee Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 I am sick to the stomach seeing this poor bird in such condition, I think all birds where at all possible should be put into single boxes for any journey however long or short, that way you are garanteed that they reach you in peak condition. Don't just complain to the driver or the local branch, let the head know what the hands and feet are are doing wrong, Don't wait till you get a sale for birds to order free boxes, they will give you as many as you like FREE, they are flat packed so easy to store
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 Think you'll find the Amtrack contract is overnight delivery of animals not requiring food or water on the journey. Not sticking up for firm, but if I was in charge of a 'parcel' of livestock which had been delayed, I'd be looking to provide the animal with water at least. Can't do that without opening the box, so maybe it's the box design that needs changed. Agree with others, one pigeon = 1 box, if you've more than one pigeon, still the same, just tape the boxes together.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 SPDS in Scotland allow six single boxes taped together and this only counts as one parcel before I send any birds in a box I have a dropper that I fill with water and empty it into the birds mouth so they always have a good drink before I close the boxes

AND DELIVERED IT TO HIS MATE IN HEYWOOD AND THE OWNER WAS SEC OF CLUB AND GUESS WHAT STILL NEVER HAD THE MONEY OFF HIM BUT I WILL BUMP INTO HIM SOONER OR LATER..............AMTRAX EVEN BORROWED MY ALI BASKET GUESS WHAT NEVER SEEN IT AGAIN...............
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 And how do you expect a 'Driver / delivery man too then. excuse me roland but u have misunderstood in the way i didnt want them fed or watered or anything of the sort...wot i was meaning is that they stated THEY WOULD DO IT !!!...i know and i aint that dull to think otherwise that amtrak would feed the birds. understand i have a history of amtrak messing up in this part of wales. and untill it changes ill complain and on the other hand as i have done recently praised them and thanked them when they did get it right. this post is not aimed to cause any arguements or otherwise...just trying to make it clear that amtrak although badly needed ...are a bad advertisement concering their company.in all businesses theres problems but amtrak have more then their fair share..far as im concerned if i have any probs with amtrak ill contact them through the right channels from now on.....paul

No whilst you think/ believe that tou are - and too many others - are something special with something special to moan about the sad reality is your not! Never mind your and others pet hates, it is a simple realism that if you aren't happy with them don't send with them, and let all the others still be able to... till the whingers and moaners stop them picking up. Just what gives you the right to voice a ranting discharge every chance you get. I, and everyone else knows your views, but they won't matter a jot, so do us all - who have to use them, a bit of peace and allow us to get on with them... whilst you buy a bike and peddle over the mountains... And the last scenario is nothing more than a plea for others to jump on your band wagon and make you feel a bit more leadership with a following. Get over it mucker and don't spoil it for everyone else ... Yeah your right SO what, hope you peddlstool feel grand when others can't send via Amtrack because you and you likes with their inceesant whinging have spoilt it for everyone. Put up with it, get on board or just be quiet, for you, and me have had more than a fair say on this subject. And no it's not personal - where not to me ads I would get by without Amtracks and like you, use a car or a bike to fetch and carry... or go without.

cemetary Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 When Amtrax do a good job they are quick enough to take the praise, When they make mistakes on birds not getting picked up, or the birds are in a bad state when you get them, what the hell doo they bother no, they dont. I have been trying to get birds picked up for over 10 days, since i phoned up before 9.30 in the morning, then the fax would be sent to the local depo, and guess what, still no birds have been picked up. I went along to the local depo, about 20 mins before they were to close, and guess what, they were shut for the weekend, i have spent some time on the phone to the local depo, and also the depo where they had been faxed too and still no birds have been picked up. I for one will be logging a complaint to there head office, letting them no what has been happening to me on the birds, if interlink were still to collect and deliver birds, i for one would be using them all the time, because when they did the doos, i never had a problem with the collection or the delivery of birds, you could have set your watch with them when they would arrive. Always complain if you are not happy, dont just sit back and accept it, there policy state a good service, and how the hell can anyone say they are getting a good service when you see whats happened to DOVEScot doo.
