Guest WINGS 04 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I HAVE BOUGHT A PIGEON FROM STUART AND HOPE TO BE ABEL TO BYE SOME MORE FROM OTHER ON PB DO NOT LET ANYONE TRY AND PUT YOU OFF
me Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Having read the origonal thread on the for sale section, Harky's comment would only be fair if was true that a member only used the site to sell birds :-/ Well clearly that is not true but to be frank I can see where Harky is coming from, there are some members and Swilcox is most definetly one of them, that can only be described as "serial" sellers of pigeons on the forum. The birds are frequently described as "crackers" and are quite often being sold for hundreds of pounds. No doubt some of them are REASONABLE doos but with the shear volume (as in 100's of them) being sold clearly some of them can't be up too much there are not that many REALLY GOOD doos in the whole country. Think about it! My worry is someone just entering the sport may get carried away spend a lot of money on doos that do nothing for them and they get disheartend and chuck it almost as soon as they started. I have said it before on here if you want to buy doos do your home work and source someone who has a reputation for breeding doos that score for others as well as themselves and you won't go far wrong. Incidentally these fanciers very seldom have to advertise to sell their birds, people go to them. Trust "me" I know what I am talking about!
xtccock Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 welldone ( me ) think your reply is nail on the head we dont realy need people taking advantage of this site by selling pigeons as a gain fair enough the odd cock n hen pair here n there but not reguarly i browsed through some of the birds for sale not knocking the breeding or pedigrees but,,,,,,,,,,,,, the performances are les than average , and put them against the results of the up north combine and they are f33ing dismall 50th against 2000 32 against 1150 these birds arnt worthy of a perch........

Roland Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I for one have no qualms with Swilcox selling and donating. Infact I think it is good and honest .... whereas all to often too many have advertised/ sold or bought through this site and nary a thank - you let alone a quiddy or two for the site. So Stuart and all others that have put their hands in the pockets for this site Well Done!
jimmy white Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 welldone ( me ) think your reply is nail on the head we dont realy need people taking advantage of this site by selling pigeons as a gain fair enough the odd cock n hen pair here n there but not reguarly i browsed through some of the birds for sale not knocking the breeding or pedigrees but,,,,,,,,,,,,, the performances are les than average , and put them against the results of the up north combine and they are f33ing dismall 50th against 2000 32 against 1150 these birds arnt worthy of a perch........ i bought a bird bred off a nat winner for £60[after a wee bit of bartering ;D] this bird has bred two winners since and the birds sister or brother , cant remember :-/ won a race since when this and another bird were delivered here , through coincidence rose was here [with another fancier] im sure she wont mind me saying this, but after handling the pigeon was very impressed indeed , now to say that 50th against 2000 birds and 32 against 1150birds just goes to proove his honesty,,,not saying the bird has ten firsts then not disclosing maybe only 6members like some would say , then off course theres the breeding of the birds so as far as im concerned its your choice to buy or not to buy , but as long as hes donating to the forum, hes helping the forum keep running , so i cant see anything wrong in that ,,,,,,mind you if this brother ever wins a combine or national ,my bird would sell for more than £60 ,so not a bad buy i would say
jimmy_bulger Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 hi stuart. i am one who has sold a few birds on here mate, and i like to think that i have given a few bob back to this site as well as selling top blood lines, to those that knock the people who put the top bloodlines up for sale on here the answer is simple . you do your home work ! you go to the expense to go abroad and make the contacts and you pay sh** loads of money for them and then lets see if you will give them away. and before you come back at me with how many do you give to new starters. last year i let 72 ybs go free of charge to new starters and worthy causes, and this year its been about 60. so if you have a mind to do the above feel free to put up or shut up. and well done stu DONT LET THE NOBBYS GET YOU DOWN MATE. jimmy ;D
peterpau Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 I aint bought a pigeon for two years but may well soon as we just moved. Stuart yours would be top o' the list to view. Stay with it, and try not to be offended by the ill informed.
sapper756 Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Keep up the good work SWILCOX, ignore the minority and continue to please the MAJORITY, I have said on several occasions, that I have bought birds from Stuart in the past and all were of a high quality. Fair Play Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 I think in some cases it's the syndrome of puting their mouths into action before their "Brain" is in gear. People have the right to sell just as I have the right to buy so buy up or shut up.
