DOVEScot Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Will you have to keep it as a stock bird now or will you be able to race it again?
ALF Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 Will you have to keep it as a stock bird now or will you be able to race it again? NO IT SHOULD BE OK TO RACE AGAIN AFTER IT'S PAIRED UP AND SETTLED NEXT YEAR DUNCAN
thunderboult Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 hi alf, i lost a cock as yb near the end of the season in the national turned up next year looking great so i paired him up and sent him to 1 comeback race and he came ok , since then he's been my most reliable bird's flying from liege in belgium on the east route and poitier's on the south that's over 400 mls in 2 directions and he's scored on both route's , i do like a yb that comes late on his own atleast you know he has'nt had to follow anything home although late all the time wont be tolerated
swilcox Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 No seen a single since the last race on the 14th of September!!!
Roland Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Alf I was refering that you only got one back from all them you sent over a whole season, so yes I am pleased for you too,, So next yearling you're have a yearling to fly after all lol.
jimmy white Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 ive had yb,s back early the following year that have made excellent pigeons [one in particular ] when the advice i got was" cull it ,ittl never be any good"
ALF Posted October 31, 2007 Author Report Posted October 31, 2007 WELL I'M CERTAINLY NO CULLING THIS WAN JIMMY AS IT'S MOTHER BRED A FED WINNER THIS YEAR (YEARLING) AND IT'S G/FATHER WON THE WELSH SOUTH EAST NATIONAL SO GLAD TO SEE IT BACK
jimmy white Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 quite right alf theres many a yb made its way back and turned out a good pigeon [sometimes amazing how they can make their way back about march april ,the following year as if they sense its breeding season and nature makes them home to the place they were born ] anyone else had this?? [one way of helping the price of grub through the winter ;D ;D ;D]
DOVEScot Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 The reason I was asking We got a 07 pigeon in from a race, wing stamped, it belonged to a guy in edinburgh area, met him in costco car park, seemingly he paid a lot of money for it, going right in the stock loft will never be out again, maybe this is different from one that returns itsself :-/
jimmy white Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 yes i think this is different ,, just because the bird cost a lot of money [no offence to owner] is no reason to keep it for stock ,, personally i would rather have alfs , whether he paid nothing or a hundred pounds,, its now found out how to get over difficulties and allthough looking ok now , i would surmise it would it would have a rough time of it at some time , and learned a lot,,and got home

DOVEScot Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 not quite with you dunc :-/ One guy got his bird back through me and put it in the stock loft saying he could never trust it out again, the other alf, got it back some time later and is going to race it again :-/

Roland Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 quite right alf theres many a yb made its way back and turned out a good pigeon [sometimes amazing how they can make their way back about march april ,the following year as if they sense its breeding season and nature makes them home to the place they were born ] anyone else had this??
