Guest karl adams Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 how can they be harmless when the bird starts to bleed dont it give the bird pain and open a gate for infection
sammy Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 nope wait till its ripe and ready to drop off then pull it out but yi have to get the root or it will grow back in again
coey Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 1 of my birds had this. i was told to give it a pea size piece of garlic and tie string around the base of it and it will fall off. i done that and sure enough it fell off. the bird is now fine.
REDCHEQHEN Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 They fall off without doing anything to them - have never had any grow back

Guest shadow Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 nope wait till its ripe and ready to drop off then pull it out but yi have to get the root or it will grow back in again sorry must disagree they do not come back make sure the birds have garlic and cider vinegar the lumps mean the birds blood is carrying to much protien tie the base off to reduce the blood flow and the lump will fall off with no lasting damage, also change the feed to barley to reduce their protien intake
Guest casbri Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 THEY FALL OF WHEN THEY DRY UP MAKE SURE BIRD DOESA NOT KNOCK IT OR BLOOD WILL BE EVERYWHERE
JimC Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 had this problem two years ago when over 30 y/bs were covered with them the cause of the problem was to much iron in the blood caused by giving them to much red grit'' once removed lumps dried up and fell off without me having to do anything birds went on to well as yearlings and two year olds last year
Michael J Burden Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 I trimmed it with a pair of very sharp scissors. Until I was close to the flesh. They don't feel a thing but it is bloody and messy.
