white racing pigeons that win

Unfortunately no m8 I had to give up my birds 8 years ago (personal circumstances) but wish I knew someone who had the "OLD STASSARTS" to this day. They were great birds. I started in pigeons in the early 60's in the NL Fed and LNRC amongst the top men in London, Alf Baker included and to win in a 20 mile radius in those days, you had to be good.

J V Ward who is on this site has the old original stuff I believe, I had a red hen off him this year flew 120 mile for me and is still with me.

The best pigeons are those that are tried and tested and based on results, to me all colours can win however if pigeons are bred from due to there colour and colour alone and not there ability to race your chances of winning with such lines are reduced.

A guy in our town won the 1st Open Pau NFC in 1966 with a bird called White Willy.

thats just about summed it up

I have been breeding pure white pigeons for the last 3 years, They are Xs, From Comines From the National Breeding Station Belgium, Rapido Busschaerts Ashtree Lofts, 2 pair of pure whites from Leir Market Belgium.  Give a pair to my freind for his wife to race in  2007, They raced the full race programme, The cock went to the London & Southeast Classic in 2008 home in good time. it will be on widowhood for 2009 season, I again bred him 6 young birds for 2008, all flow the young bird season lost one, all coming very well.

If any bred a youngster that has a coloured flight, outer them white it has to go.

They will be all in the basket next season, they willl have a harder life then they have had in the past. and trying the roundabout! it will be the traill & error of all my work over the 3 years.

I still think there is room for birds of colour that win too. The last 20 or so years we have seen a decline in coloured pigeons. Mainly I think to the "in" family. At the present it is the VandieVirus which is dominating and hence mainly blue/cheq.

I see a few of the SVR and many are mealy pieds with quite a few gay pieds amongst them.

I think that there are so many potentially good birds about in this day and age and with the internet we who use it can see many birds for sale which we would have only dreamed of years ago. If your fancy is to get a white team racing successfully I see no reason why after seeing and selecting from the many on offer that this can not be achived over time. I would how ever cross in a few good birds of other color in the begining, weed out the none white coloured birds and pair back for white etc.

In short you are creating a family of a particular kind. I would love to see a team of white birds flying around my loft and know that they too can perform as good as anyone elses.

I have a variety of colours barless and grizzles etc and have just bought some whites and I was 2nd sec 20th MNFC with a barless and had a grizzle that has won previously flown Palamos 751 mile.

The whites however I bought in cos a friend of my wife found out I keep pigeons and wanted me to supply them for funerals. Well this I will do but they got to race as yearlings.

I THINK THERES A GOOD CHANCE THAT IF YOU WANT TO WIN RACES WITH WHITES,

YOU HAVE TO MOVE TO CANADA OR THE USA.

I think its because we have less guys, less birds,

actually I'm sure its that.

hello tere all ... i had an unusual thing tonight that my young daughter has asked me to get her some white pigeons ... i said yes ...could people tell me what whites that can win if any and who on here has the best of them >???? cheers ...ill get them for her but they will have to be raced cheers .....mikey - gladdo

They would have to be imported, but Roger Mortvedt in Devore, California, USA has a fantastic family of whites that he has bred for years. I met him when I picked up one of my strays from a race. While there he let me handle some of his famous birds. They are picture perfect, thick luxurious feathering, perfect muscle, light "corky" bodies like inflated balloons. He was won California State Champion more than any other; has many 500 mile winners; national champions, etc. Very smart pigeons -- very intelligent. Yes, he has many hawks where he lives in Devore.
