DOVEScot Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 Some of you will know this man more for the work he does helping people, he gets up at the crack of dawn during the race season to open the gate at Thornton to help with the liberations. He has kept pigeons all his life in some form or another. He has the biggest collection of old Brittish Homing Worlds I have ever seen, dating back years Since getting pancreatic cancer his involvement in racing has stopped but he still keeps pigeons but no longer races them. He was taken back into hospital on Monday and they are running tests for secondary cancer and also TB, he now weighs less than five stone and all he cares about is getting out to look after his birds I wish him all the best in his fight to get better, especially because I am having to feed his birds and clean oot his loft :'( :'( :'( Here he is with one of our runts last summer

I printed them out and took them into him tonight. Good news is that the cancer is not progressive and he got the all clear for TB. The doctor said the only thing they could find wrong with so far is he is a Glasgow Rangers fan ;D ;D ;D
DOVEScot Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 Just to let you all know Billy got out of hospital and he thanks everyone for their jind words and wishes Sad thing is he was released because there was nothing else can be done for him in ward 13 at our local hospital and there are no beds in ward 16 where he needs to go for further treatment, so they sent him home till there is a bed for him, totally shocking.
DOVEScot Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 Billy has to go back into hospital as he has not managed to keep any food down since he got out last week. Things are not looking too good, so he has asked me to give away some of his birds. First to go will be his Birmingham rollers and his West of England tumblers, he has some really nice birds, I will post more details of the birds later and hopefully some pics. I will be looking after his lofts and his racers in the mean time.

DOVEScot Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 Yes a BIG well done to you Dovescot, and once again tell Billy we are all behind him in his recovery Just happy to help him, he has a heart of gold and would give you his last even though he has nowt compared to most of us He really appreciates all your good wishes ;D
DOVEScot Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 hi there duncan how about asking for a few quid for his birds instead of giving them away, maybe the money from the birds will help a little bit and good on ya for helping him out He just wants to cut back on the workload if he recovers, he will never get back to full fitness due to the cancer which gladly is not progressive at the moment, he now only weighs 4 and a 1/2 stone but he is a fighter. He will almost certainly have to move house, so I plan to use the loft he got from Ferry and just keep a small team of racers for him. So anybody taking the rollers and tumblers will be helping him out as he sees it :-/
Guest mikkey Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 well i would be glad to take a few birds mate let me know whats available and i will also drop him a few quid :-/
