jimmy white Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 in my opinion the prices of pigeons nowadays are completely crazy, ive found fantastic racing birds for very little, or even as presents and in the past when racing, knocked the socks of the newcommer who have paid a fortune from them so,,,,all that glitters is not gold [only to the seller ;D] in my opinion good pigeons can be aquired reasonably cheaply from good honest fanciers

Silverdale Lofts Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 I Agree. I purchased this Steve stroker Delbar at the Eamon Wright sale for £30 ;D ;D Brian was the pigeon lot 15 in the sale? i couldnt get to the sale but at that price you got a bargain
Bad Trapper Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Recession, what recession? Heard some were making mad money at Blackpool, I honestly cannot understand people paying these sort of prices unless you are a stud or in it to make money but as for they ordinary flyer and with families It just does not add up. Unless they think by paying these sort of prices they are guaranteed a draw full of red cards. If you see in the weekly mags or the net some of the prices being asked for by lofts with old performances, or no performances come to that makes you think. At the end of the day buyer beware and make your own mind up
b.massey Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Brian was the pigeon lot 15 in the sale? i couldnt get to the sale but at that price you got a bargain No lot 15 went for £75. He was a cracking light cheq pied. I bought 23 and 45 both for £30. Was not going to buy any but these birds were too good to go unsold

grizzal Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 While fanciers pay the high prices asked, they will stay high, as stated most of us have better birds given to us ,than the ones we have paid good money for. By the way lovely looking pied hope they breed some good y/bs for u

Guest 67ghirl Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 What I thought was Great was the amount of excellent well known fanciers who donated Pigeons to Kieran when he was starting out. These were birds that these Men could have made a decent amount of Money from. Again though all of them came from outwith our Area! lol
mark Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 asked yourself this why were they 30 QUID :-/ :-/AND IM NOT NOCKING THEM it could be £300 still the same pigeon.
Tumley Lofts Stud Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 We don't make money as a stud! We were selling pigeons from £40 each at Blackpool! Even at this price you are still getting children of winners or brothers and sisters to winners. We also give many birds away to charity auctions, I have also loaned out at least 6 pigeons this year to new commers to the sport and people returning to the sport. Just from one pair I loaned out last year the person bred 8 pigeons and still has 7 after a tough youngbird program. What annoys me is when people by pigeons for £20 when the pigeons are so far from winners it's amazing it knows how to fly! No one can gaurantee winners from any pigeon but I don't see the point in wasting £20 on something that has the slimest of chances of producing a good bird when you can get a child or relative of a winner for £40 and give yourself a better chance. You get what you pay for! But I do agree thousands of pounds for a pigeon isn't nessaccery
robbiedoo. Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 ive actually ordered youngsters from tumleylofts good cheap birds .myself the most ive paid for a pigeon is £60 i cant understand why people pay fortunes for stock birds and they produce nowt taking a couple of year to reliase its a waste of time and money.my pigeons fly as good as anybody else in my fed and i just buy some youngsters for £20 - £30 each race them hard whatevers left at the end of the season has earned it .
fletch Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 my dad has raced pigeons since 1967 and he has never payed more than £35 for a pigeon and that hen had won 2 x 1st one as a young bird then one has a yearling the guy who had her never won another race before and after but that pegeon won anotherb 2 races for us. She also bred some good birds. Our foundations pair were both gift birds and went on to bred 1 fed winner and be grand parents to two other fed winners. If we were going to buy birds i would always buy young of flyers our buy some late breeds out of a top flyers birds but never pay over the odds. Succes is never gauranteed with all the money in the world..
Roland Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 asked yourself this why were they 30 QUID :-/ :-/AND IM NOT NOCKING THEM :-/ :-/ :-/ Exactly, if priced at £150 - £300 they would have gone like hot cakes.
