STARTER_09 Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Does any one use baytral for racing iv just started my pigeon r half an hour behind everyone every week someone said to me give them baytril on and friday before basketing to give them a kick start.
REDCHEQHEN Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 That is appalling advice Baytril is a strong anti-biotic It could just be something 'simple' like your feed (what are you feeding?) what racing method (widowhood, natural etc) and how long are your birds loft flying each day What is your weekly routine
ALF Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Does any one use baytral for racing iv just started my pigeon r half an hour behind everyone every week someone said to me give them baytril on and friday before basketing to give them a kick start. Dont use it unless it's as a last resort if your pigeons are ill and it wont make them any quicker mate thats up to you to get them fitter or get yourself some better pigeons
hotrod Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Does any one use baytral for racing iv just started my pigeon r half an hour behind everyone every week someone said to me give them baytril on and friday before basketing to give them a kick start. no one in your club is going to tell you how to beat them ,SO MY ADVICE DONT LISTEN TO ANY OF YOUR MEMBERS ESPECIALLY THIS CLOWN ask on here and you'll normally get sound advice
blackdog Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 get them tested for canker mate,if its canker baytril wont do any good, just my opinion on baytril, great antibiotic if used in the right way as alf says, last resort.
STARTER_09 Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 i started racing yb's tast year samething last year half an hour behind ive got some well bread pigeon racing man bread me some to give me a started they are all yearling now and sill cant get it rite nobody tell me anything at all in my club nothing to help me out at the moment i doing the widowhood roundabout i feed them race mix i took a pigeon to a pigeon lab for testing for canker cocci worms and bactera everyting was fine.
jakjak Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 That is appalling advice Baytril is a strong anti-biotic It could just be something 'simple' like your feed (what are you feeding?) what racing method (widowhood, natural etc) and how long are your birds loft flying each day What is your weekly routine couldnt agree more........excellent advice! there really is no need to pump your pigeons full of antibiotics.......it can only be a short term 'fix' in racing, IF you know wot you are doing............A superb fancier once told me that the use of antibiotics for racing is cheating, and I have always kept this is mind.........get the right system and feed and you will thrash this guy who recommends baytril for a kickstart!
REDCHEQHEN Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 When did you split them from pairing up How long are they flying round the loft each day? How many training tosses have you had and at what distance How many races have you had (its very early in the season) How much are you feeding the birds? Are you feeding in their boxes or on the floor You need to look at what you are doing (or not doing) Write it all down and anything else you can think of You might be feeding too much / too little there may be lack of motivation Don't beat yourself up
just ask me Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 its a long curve to get too the top or to compete at the top what u have to remember u are racing against people who are in this all there lives some are itts no easy i bet one of your big downfalls is feeding new starters tend to be to heavy with the feed or feeding the wrong type corn u would seem to have a clean bill of health so your loft doesn't seem to be the problem remember Rome wasn't build in a day and belive me giving baytil every week before a race wont work either this person is of very low intelligence when it comes to pigeons or wants to put u wrong u can work that out for yourself maybe what distance u are flying what the loft conditions are like maybe in even a pic of the inside of the loft i bet we can help here but remember it takes more than a week if only ;D ;D ;D
blaz Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 put up your routine how you feed train etc . then some of the guys on hear will give you some good advice. but not all of them
Roland Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 8)Does any one use baytral for racing iv just started my pigeon r half an hour behind everyone every week someone said to me give them baytril on and friday before basketing to give them a kick start. Could solve the problem .... soon have none to send. It is on subscription for a reason .... Not least to stop idiots like your friend getting it .... but he will, have no sensible or practical knowleadge.... Except of course '......... So and so uses it', and '...... he up the road had some....' strueth give us strength. :o Time there was a 'Pigeons Prayer' in operation I guess! :-/ :-/ Like the boxers had 'Dear god, protect me from silly match makers and brave trainers' eh! 8) 8)
pjc Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 why oh why do people keep pushing Baytril! I think as a new starter i wouldn't worry about trying roundabout etc, I would race natural and learn about your birds. it would sugest that if you are always 1/2hr behind that it is your system/routine that is the problem. If you list your daily routine, how much you feed, what addatives used, what if anything you put in the water, daily excercise routine, training routine etc then we may be able to guide you.
terry mccarthy Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 for one baytril will boost your pigeons no doubt about that it surpresses the immune system then as u come off of it u will get a caterpult reaction with it but this is not the way to go good birds good feeding thats the most important thing routine and health if u are gonna treat then do so for 5 to 7 days the required amount of time for most anitbiotics because if u start giving for one days here and there it wont work wen u do ever need it also baytrill is not a last resort medication its very good for wat its purpose is for imo

Is there a fancier in your club who will help, most will, ask one of the experienced fanciers to have a look at your birds.... or get their droppings off for testing, miss this weeks race. Better to send them healthy and less fit than unhealthy and apparently 'fit'

Really disgusted that no one will tell you owt, have you asked sometimes you need to do that, there must be someone there that you have respect for? If so ask her/him straight for help, if he says s/he's not good enough ask him who would be best to talk to.

STARTER_09 Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Someone told me to give the pigeons baby food with a little oil mix with food its got all the vits u need and i give the black mins and i feed them after training let them eat as much as they want them remove the food
pjc Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 forget the baby food, give them access to both black and red mineral, changing it every couple of days. What grit do you give them? Measure the food, they are having to much.
