Guest Taylors Choice Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Just been having a few conversations here about which way a loft should face for the best results and i was wondering what the fanciers on here think is best and why? Chris
Guest chrisss Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 i have mine facing directly south [i was told that was best] they can get a bit hot in summer, and i would have preferred southeast, but for my garden size and direction,i do not think loft direction matters that much it just means the loft comes into form a bit later if it faces north[in my view]
pigeonpete Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 good question, mine faces south as thats what i was told to do, but cant see it makes that much difference really, i just know with all the stong south winds of late, it does get a bit wetter!
ALF Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 As long as the ventilation is right and there are good doos in it face it any way you like
b.massey Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Also would advise not too face north. Very cold wind blowing directly into loft is not good. And yes mine is facing north
Guest youngzimmy Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 I WOULD SAY WEST GET THE SUN ALL DAY THE DOWNSIDE WEST WINDS AND RAIN
retired Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 The loft i have up at the new address presently faces North although when i put my big loft up it will be facing south. No other reason as thats where i chose for it on the garden
Razvan Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 mine is to north... but the house is in front of the loft and it isn't wind
REDROCKET Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 when racing from the west best to face south because thats the direction the birds come home but racing up the east face loft in direction of coatbridge because birds seem to come out of the northish direction?
Guest bigda Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 when racing from the west best to face south because thats the direction the birds come home but racing up the east face loft in direction of coatbridge because birds seem to come out of the northish direction? your having :X :X a laugh ;D ;D ;D :o ??)
greenlands Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 South East is my choice,I have two facing that direction and one facing South West. The South West takes a hammering with wind and rain.Lindsay
Guest Owen Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Face the sun my son. You win more races that way, that is what they say.
REDROCKET Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 no point in facing the sun in lanarkshire because it rains every saturday.lol
Guest asha Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 South East gets the early morning sun, south west here is the rain bringer,North can be very good for real distance boys, holds the form back to middle late june july
