tryer Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 how many of you would say you where in a good or bad position i know some will say all depends on the wind . not many will say good or will they . ps think these smilies want changing
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 West of Scotland is without doubt the hardest place on earth to race pigeons..
PATTY BHOY Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 West of Scotland is without doubt the hardest place on earth to race pigeons.. would agree ,with the borders being best for nationals.
Novice Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 West of Scotland is without doubt the hardest place on earth to race pigeons.. Surely on Earth is a bit overstated
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Lol..definetly the hardest on earth..!!
Guest frank dooman Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 ive raced in saltcoats/greenock /port-glasgow /bo,ness and now clackmannan there is no doubt that the further east you go the better so iam in the middle not the worst and not the best but you cant help where you live so you just have to make the best of what youve got
greenlands Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Just about the worst position in the fed because the birds can't come the way they are measured, they come via the coast and not through the Lakes. Lindsay
BLACK W F Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 try flying into the north of scotland then you got problems
robbiedoo. Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 a lot of people go on about the west of scotland being a bad location but what about the fanciers up in inverness , orkney or lerwick funny thing is these guys never seem to moan about it . :-/
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Im not saying its easy in the North, but those pigeons have a straight passage thru up the East.. Doos in to the west have to break away from the large numbers in the east and fly probably 90% of the time in to a west wind. Thats before you take in to account the massive population of BOP's..
kirky Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Ireland has got to be the hardest place to fly to, east or west.
robbiedoo. Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 if the inverness doos go up the east coast when they hit fraserburgh they have to dog leg 100 west
PATTY BHOY Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 if the weathers no rite,we`re all in bother ;)
Guest WINGS 04 Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 try flying into the north of scotland then you got problems WHO YOU TRYING TO KID
kirky Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 if the weathers no rite,we`re all in bother ;) very true & it seems to get worse each season.
BLACK W F Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 rab i aint on the coast mate distance kills and i aint in the worst position theres others in our fed a lot worse
Guest strapper Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 i think where i live its very hard for our club to get a decent result when the winds against us more times than it is for us, as we are north of the main set up of the fed....but we do get a result in now and again. in every fed there will be a section where the wind helps out each week...and its nothing to do with fanciers abilities.
Chris Little Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Solway area...... peregrine country on our door step
greenlands Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Solway area...... peregrine country on our door step Needn't add much more to that Chris, just about frightened to let them out at certain times. Lindsay
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Solway area...... peregrine country on our door step Surely you dont think its harder to fly pigeons in to Solway than it is in the extreme West or North of Scotland..??
BLACK W F Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 chris if you think you got percy /and sparrow hawks /and all the rest come up here and try it you wont last long
tryer Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 does anyone know or heard of anyclubs haven a breaking point or dont they excist just like to know .
Guest WINGS 04 Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 rab i aint on the coast mate distance kills and i aint in the worst position theres others in our fed a lot worse there is no having to turn from east to west your birds have to race straight north as this is what the birds do when libed from a race pointthat is why you can time in the YBN befor we get a bird over here as the drag pulls or birds stright north
tiger Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 does anyone know or heard of anyclubs haven a breaking point or dont they excist just like to know . yes west calder h.s. in the av fed they have it . but maybe someone from that fed could tell us ?
