Tony C Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 100% Barley in a hopper like chickadee has shown ( more than one grain and they'll eat what they like and throw out the rest) Crushed garlic in their drinking water.
pigeonpete Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 dont have the option of others feeding them? andy. cause you got no mates ;D They will be fine for 3 days on hoppers, i use the caroline drinkers for corn and water :-) add a bit of cider vinegar or glycerine to prevent freezing,
THE FIFER Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 if you have an old plastic drinker, cut a 3 ince whole in the top and place a length of 3inch plastic pipe down it, leave about an inch from the bottom, you can then fill the pipe with food, you can make the pipe as long as you want
Guest Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 thank you ,pigeonpete ,all my mates will be on the same bus. Tony C ,yes will be happy to leave them with barley only . and Fifer ,good tip that ,and i have those materials to hand so will look to make some up next week. thanks again. andy.

Only problem is if its a mix they scatter what they dont like looking for their favourite seeds. Al.
