pigeonpete Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 My target, is to just keep enjoying the birds, and watching them come home on a saturday, And not be last :-) And a top 10 in the section of the national would be nice in 2010. ;D
Guest grizzler Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 next year will be my first with the racers,so just hoping that i dont get devasted by bop and hope to give my birds the best possible chance of making it home from a race.and to learn from my mistakes, anything else wil be a bonus. steve
blackdog Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 mine will be to hopefully keep them healthy all season, enjoy them as much as i can and hopefully get a few good results, but the main thing is to enjoy your birds if you win or dont win
WELSH WIZARD Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 Always remember to learn from your mistakes to many fanciers will blame the birds, convoyer, even next doors cat even if next door aint got a cat.To many members wont admit mistakes when behind on race day, admit your mistakes rectify them move up the result next week.BUT you must remember being down the result don't been you made a mistake that week just means a better bird beat u on the day.SO a good target for me is to know weather i made the mistake or not.
demolition man Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 on the subject of cant, do any fanciers have a cat? My mate's got about seven cats and they don't take any notice of the pigeons at all, if ever a stray cat enters the garden there straight on it, Regards
Guest Paulo Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 This year I've been fairly sucessful considering what I have been up against. In 2 years of flying I've achieved the initial goals I have set out to do i.e. win races and top the fed and build a good team of birds up. My young bird performances have been great and I have been unlucky in a sense due to my loft position and the level of competion I'm up against to not do better. So I feel I have my YB system sorted with a few minor adjustments here and there. Old birds have been ok but not as good as YB's I put this down to racing on the natural system and my birds haveing to be bang on to win against roundabout birds and widowhood cocks. I don't regret racing natural as being a novice it has taught me a lot about pigeons and what makes them tick and when they are ready for a race. My channel performances have been disappointing due to not having the blood and racing the birds wrong. My targets this year as as follows:- 1. I have joined a new club I'm still in the same loft position for the fed but my new position is better for club races in the cllub I'm flying in. My 1st goal is to try and become top flier in this club. 2. My second goal is to improve my old bird performances in particular from the channel. To achieve this my sprint team will be flying on a version of roundabout. I have built a seperate channel section for the water birds as one of my main mistakes has been to have channel and sprint birds in the same section and its no good as the feeding and treatment is totally different. I have also invested a lot of money in buying good channel birds from entire clearances and have a team of YB's bred from these. 3. My third goal is to try and top the WDA. I have had fastest bird in it before and positions such as 27th, 44th amal. This year I intend to try and top it not a easy feat but you have to think big. This year I intend to try and become top man in my new

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 1. Win a SNFC race (preferably The Longest race or the gold cup race). 2. Win Section within SNFC race. 3. Make the result in all 7 SNFC races. 4. Be competitive in all Lanarkshire fed races and if a 1st open comes along with this then i will be over the moon.
Guest KING BILLY Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 mine is to breed birds to win at all levels of comepation club fed and the one and only snfc because i think you have to breed them right before you can fly them ;)
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 To be consistent in scoring at the longer Fed and National races rather than odd performances... Winning the West Section from SNFC Gold Cup race.. is a big dream.. or even dare is say it win the SNFC Gold Cup.. that is the ultimate..
Guest stevie-b Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 to start topping the fed wi old birds again sitting wi the best team of yearling ive ever had
hotrod Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 i would love to win another national (with the one and only SNRPC) or even some one winning with one of mine or off one of mine that would do just fine.
ally mac Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 I would like to build a family of birds that will fly to me from the south coast and maybe even across the water one day. The odd wee result along the way would be the icing on the cake.
gulkie Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 its the only sport/hobbie that thers no handycap system new starts fly with the best and the worst .make sure ur birds are healthy priority NO1 just enjoy the thrill of seeing them return even from a training toss, u will loose birds, but that is just part of the game now. if there healthy they stand more of a chance of getting home, winning's a bonus. good luck new starts
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Mines to breed even more winners for others as i think its a great feeling when some one complerments you on your stock when you have bred them a winner . last season i helped two novices win there first ever races with my birds you carnt beat that feeling
