by about mid may does your fed have some shorter comeback races...typically on the same weekend as nationals/classics?

My yearlings wont be going this week neither, the week after were 114 miles and hopefully they'll go then.

Have you had birds shut up all winter? Could you not give them a start frae say 5 or 6 mile and ease it up frae there?

did this last sat, took them to johnstone 7 miles away took 2,hrs to get them all back didnt look nervous so dont think percy was a problem.p.s they have been in all winter, if i dont i am just a chuck wagon for the bops

i have a team of yearlings also but mine are exercising well and have been succesfully trained.there have been losses along the way but i think they are as ready as they,ll ever be.if you have any doubts about their readyness then do not send them.it would be a shame to lose them before they reached their full potential.

question was jim would it be safe to jump them 100,miles if not ready, not guranteed good traning weather anytime.would probably take stuarts advice, if its only 3,thirty mile tosses 1,week before 4,th race better towait till ther ready, than damage them buy pushing them to early in cold conditions.averages mean nothing to me,

its to be nice this weekend billy  around 14/15 degrees  get them out for a few spins  10/15 milers then c how the weather is during week .

Birds have been locked up most of winter, only getting them out regular last 2 weeks; racing starts in 2 weeks, and 100 mile race is 3 weeks after that. Plenty time to get majority trained up for that.

they dont need to be that fit for 40 mile race billy  ,trained to about 20 miles  2 or 3 times  would do them fine mate  40 miles is only at normal speed an hours fly .surely even bird straight oot the dookit could fly for an hour as long as there naw like turkeys /too heavy
