Where have all my Bop's gone?  Lost two birds to a fem. s-hawk early last year and that was the last attack here.  '08 was a bad year Gos nested nearby, Percy was busy as usual, my birds seem to have percy sussed, not had a hit for a few years, I've got a 5x4ft. open door, top half of the tall barn door, they can trap at speed and in numbers. Was thinking that as so many people feed the wildlings perhaps the Bop's have moved into the towns

strange that all birds food is hidden under snow and theirs is more obvious on it, you'd think this would be a good time for them

i was hoping the extreme cold might make feeding harder and reduce numbers back , but can see that happening

to be honest aint seen the sparrow hawks for nearly 3 weeks now since the snow

there usually here everyday chasing the birds

perhaps the captive bred and released birds arent hardy enough to survive the extreme temps weve been having ;) that would naturaly reduce there numbers a wee bit ;)

Was hoping the same thing that food would be scarce for them and the numbers would go down, but I've nae doubt the numpties fae the RSPB be makin sure there's plenty grub fir them >:(

Most fanciers keep there birds in in the snow, so they starve. OR AM I BEING TO IDEALISTIC  ;D

thats the reason so many get hit hard after the winter, birds are let out, are not fit and are not so street wise, easy pickings!
