Guest strapper Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 i put this on pigeonchat lastnight 224views 9 replies some were mine. why dont all the unions in the uk and ireland get together and make a documentary to be aired on tv? or have a short advrt to be regularly run...maybe get sponsors to aid the financial side of it. i would also have posters put up on billboards around the country too! im sure there is high profile celebs wishing to come on board and front this issue? we could do with a few pop stars on board! what about getting in touch with simon cowell?...his backing would carry some weight im sure there are fanciers on here that know celebs and they could ask them to join our plight?
greenlands Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Looks like the same responce on here paul. It's just a pitty some of our so called leaders don't join these chat sites and give us their point of view.I spoke to one personally a week or so ago who is getting hammered with percy and sparrow and he was in cockoo land and personally thinks that chat sites are there to start roumors,at that point I walked away. It's good to see certain fanciers are trying to help others , a little bit more discrete might come to mind without being band off a site. YOU can't help anyone if your BANNED. And some good lads are. Good luck with your venture. Lindsay

Guest Davy Fleming Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 I said on this site weeks ago this is in my opinion is the only way forward i,e, a DOCUMENTARY showing what really happens. You need strength and part of that means a celebrity to forward our case. They make plenty documentaries on wildlife so why not our pigeons and what actually does happen to our beloved birds. Anyone have a friend in the media who may speak to someone and take things a bit further ?????

Brilliant idea Strapper, how do we go about get the ball rolling? ps We have the most powerful influence in Europe on our side, The Queen Her Majesty knows first hand of the slaughter we are enduring.
showman Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 The RSPB carries more weight, because it is a single nationwide body with one voice, and is simply better known to the UK population as a whole. Ask a sample of people in the street what the RSPB is , and the majority will know. Ask the same sample what the RPRA is, and the majority won't have a clue. However, they probably will have a guess that it's 'Royal'....something. Both RSPB & RPRA have a connection, and that's the Royal Patronage. The RSPB have always looked to, and counted on this patronage, due to the 'political' weight it may carry. Have the RPRA employed the same tactical plan in their campaign ? With its' Royal connection, have they sought the backing of any of the Royal Family for their cause ? Is it now time we ask of our Patron to get involved ? JMO.
frank-123 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 listen in all honesty who cares about racing pigeons bar us maybe thirty years ago we might of had the public on our side but not any more the rspb can muster thousands at a moments notice for one billboard it takes £500 quid for a two week slot it would be cheaper if the rpra/shu invested in anti mating jackets and make the rule if your bird is sent to a race it must wear one or it doesn't go please don't feel offended strapper i wish more folk could come up with more good idea's

Guest strapper Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 what we do need is to have fanciers in their own towns on the street with info and pics what the hawks are doing..trying to make people sign for all bop will be harder..we need to target the hawks and falcons. someone outside a townhall with small billboards that can be removed and put into the back of a car. a small table with petitions against these hawks falcons for killing the songbirds .

Memnbership fees to the organisation and fund raising events could pay for all this we just need someone to take the lead and set up our own organisation
