Guest vander mungo Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 after 4,weeks into both methods of flying which system would have the edge on race day.base this on two yearlings.one on widowhood and the other driving his hen to nest
dal2 Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Never had a natural cock beat a widower at shorter distances but suppose it depends on pigeons as much as anything
holmsidelofts Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 after 4,weeks into both methods of flying which system would have the edge on race day.base this on two yearlings.one on widowhood and the other driving his hen to nest For me it would always be widowhood, you get more consistent performance over a period of weeks where with natural you only get small windows to get it right and you have all the hassles that go a long with it, ie difficulty getting them to exercise, the hassles of youngsters you dont want, for me it would be widowhood everytime im afraid. its a difficult question to answer who would have the edge as theres lots of factors to think about.
DJWa Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 last year i set up my good busseart cock 3 times driving 1st time he sat on the house roof for 8 mins being home 4 mins before any loftmates 2nd time he was 1st club 7th fed 3rd time he was 1st club 8th fed this was flying against widdow and roundabout members in my club
Guest bakes Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 widowhood cocks have the edge in my eyes naturals come to there own the longer the distances but all to your own

Youll be setin it up for a big pools win shortly then???

sapper756 Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Would have to agree with the majority and say the Widowhood would beat the natural, especially in the sprint/middle distance races JMO
Guest bakes Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 does that mean you pair yours up for the distance that was my plan
jimbhoy29 Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 a found if u move the natural cocks to a diferent section on the thursday and basket them in that section on the friday u will match any widowhood cock on the saturday.. jmo
magpie Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 It's a fallacy that widowhood cocks won't compete at the distance - we've won our section in NFC Tarbes and British Barcelona Club from Palamos, second open BBC Bordeaux and plenty of other positions at the distance with widowhood cocks. But it's no good pairing them up early and hammering them down the road every week from mid-April if you want them at their best in late June-early July.
DJWa Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Ye had that cock bang on mate. Youll be setin it up for a big pools win shortly then??? afraid we dont fly for any pools :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Totally agree, just ask geoff kirkland one of the fines long distance champions the uk has ever had and hes widowhood.

Tony C Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 I would say both would be as keen as eachother.
Guest strapper Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 i had a natural cock top the welsh north road fed by 22yrds..beating widowhood cocks. at 91 mls. in 2008 i also had a cock from same race point fail to top the fed by bad trapping(due to neighbour. same cock in 2009 failed to top the fed by bad trapping...same racepoint. 3 times last year our club topped the same fed by racing natural...bar one of them at 254mls..other two at 91mls. now im not saying over the course of a season a widowhood cock would not achieve a better amount of wins..just saying dont discount natural cocks
Bugsy Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 There is absolutely no difference on any given day between motivated natural pigeons and widowhood, its down to the famous three - health, fitness and motivation. Granted widowers will sustain a higher level of consistent performance but never discount the natural boys.
fletch Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 i would say widdowood for sprint but a good natural bird trying will be hard to stop from any race point
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 well the point of the matter is , that a natural cock driving has the same motivation as the widowhood cook but where next week the natural cock will be sitting and coming off form the widowhood will still be on form for that week the week after ect so you might get your natural cock on form for maybe twice a season where he can match the widowhood cocks but the widowhood cocks will be on form 6 to 8 weeks of the season
Guest stb- Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 good pigeons will win on widowhood or natural week in week out
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 good pigeons will win on widowhood or natural week in week out mmmmmm no they wont
Roland Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Think the Natural flyers outshine the widowers in our Fed. Especially at the distance. Natural have dominated not only the fed, but the two longest Algamations too for last few years. Yes many Naturals are now beating the widowers. 2003 had a youngster reported in Durham way where they started racing in March. Fellow say Natural dominate the earlier races at the springt now due to lack of sun ... But there are many other facets to be taken into account when one realises just how much the natural boys changed a lot of the old 'Way it has always been ' and moved ahead with the times. A different ball ame now, because they had to. Simple as that I guess.
