Well he wouldn,t send one in our clubs old bird race with a young bird ring on wether it was taped up or not I,ll guarentee that, unless it was a trainer or a any age race.

well said m8, this should be the same in every club :)

Congratulations to you joesy61 your smugness and cockiness has shone thru and i hope your arrogant attitude has stirred up enough people to get this practice stopped for good.

To any self respecting pigeon fancier this is totally wrong and should be outlawed (if its not already).

look pigeonman what part of you CANT STOP HIM do you not under stand

oh happy days

The fact that I am secretary of the club says I can stop him because the bird is carrying a young bird ring and he is trying to race it in a old bird race, wether the y/b ring is taped or not I would still stop that bird from being entered and take my chances wether I was taken to task or not,BUT THAT BIRD WOULD NOT GO.

right we still don't really know that just my opinion

but a bigger question has come of this i feel the rpra could not give a definitive answer what a load of crap does this mean that the rules will change from area to area or am i reading this right

why do these people get paid if they cant answer a question like this

Rings are registration details and as such full details from both rings should be on a race sheet. Otherwise it opens a can of worms!

We should be looking at ways of legitimately competing with young birds alongside  the old birds surely this is a good idea and when weather is not to favourable the old birds will help the youngsters leave the racepoint so reducing losses.

Regards

Bob Pickering WELL SAID FULL DETAILS FROM BOTH RINGS ;)

PS  putting the tape on is tampering with a birds registration details!

the rule in scotland is ,  old ,birds cannot be entered into any ob  race with a marker ring on,, young birds can,, [a taped up ring would be deemed as a marker ring], so the bird [if in scotland and under shu rules] can only  be sent as a yb , with the current years ring, being  counted :)

again :),,,,the bird could not be raced as an old bird with a marker ring on as per shu rule

a young bird can be sent to a race with a marker ring on it,, but only as a yb,,,, as per shu rule [think about it :)]

Well joe, 'the crawler' intends to crawl a little further and I am in the process of getting an amendment to rule 96 made to stop anyone misinterpreting the rule on this issue. Addition to rule as below (in red), If members think this may be applicable on an area basis, put this proposition to your own area secretary:

Rule 96.

All birds must carry at least one intact unaltered Association ring or a ring issued by a union recognised by the Association or a foreign ring when the owner can produce proof of ownership. Should a bird carry more than one ring, both rings must be of the same year of issue, registered to one loft number and must be from the country of origin.

my apologie joe,, the first post definately prooves this :),, but with not having that difficulty in scot [through the shu ruling]  this" cheating" could be avoided if the same rule was in place in other unions  :-/
