sapper756 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 hello i was just wondering has anybody has started training yet or is it a still a bit early Not just is it too early for me, but it,s too COLD :-/
grizzal Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 another 2-3weeks before we start training and thats only if it starts to get a bit warmer and no east winds as ours are all yearlings
greenlands Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Old birds still feeding young, too cold, too many hawks around at the mo,i'll give them another two week and hope the sun comes out and the temperature rises.
Pigeondoll Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Lots of people say its to cold yet, some say about 14 degrees.
Guest Freebird Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 This may seem a stupid question for most of you but when you let your birds out after the winter etc. do you have to encourage them to excercise or do you just let them get on with it.
Roland Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Of course you have to encourage of kick them out. Great sign that they aren't fit! When the batter the door aside and clap out like the clappers, then you ca start to train them. Fit birds train to get fitter.... No one or anything can train to get fit! You become fit to train!
john nico Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 just got my birds in from there second toss all come well start racing next week and the weather is ok hear today
Guest spin cycle Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 just back from first trainer....they beat me and were still excersizing. i've been building them up slowly round the loft for about a week. i'm very pleased....it can't last (dizzy)
Guest Owen Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 I have a group of 15 hens in training. They have had 6 tosses. The widowhood cocks have 3 nests with young which will be away this week. The ones without young are getting with it now. They have started to fly for fun and are beginning to get up high. A very good sign. I hope to get them ont he road next week.
