shotgun tim Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 im thinking of getting ets, which is the best?
PIGEON_MAN Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 The best thing to do is check to see which system they have in your club,no good getting Unikon if the club uses Bricon, makes it a lot easier for the club officials.
chichichi Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I have bricon and know whatever system the club has I can use it .. with an unikon they must have the master for an unikon to use the pocket clock,, the pocket clock can't be used with any other master on its own.. I can turn up to any national or open race and know that the little clock I use will be accepted.. with the unikon if you don't know what they have you will have to take the champ aswell.. both are fantastic systems.. goodluck ant
jimbobboy Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 chicchichi: You mean you can use the Bricon with the club can of Unikon? Any software involved? Our club uses Unikon only. I may check out their site !!!! Thanks
shotgun tim Posted April 27, 2008 Author Report Posted April 27, 2008 our club doesnt have ets yet so il have to get the master for the club anyway
naedoos Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I'm pretty sure that Unikon will supply a master to the club as long as there is 1 member using Unikon. With Unikon there are no connections to unplug or wear out when you take the pocket clock to the club for marking/reading. Don't know if any others can do this or not.
chichichi Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 they all can be used on any master system,, so you can use the bricon with any master ,, also you can use unikon with any master,, what i'm saying is you can't use the pocket clock of unikon on any other system without the champ.. but unikon will give the club a master,, but what happens in an open race or national.. have a look at them all and then decide.. see what you want and need and can afford.. they are not cheap... goodluck ant

Thats fine if you have the pocket clock, believe they have just put the price back up from £90 to £190,so if you get the system without the pocket clock, sorry but your first sentence is misleading to someone who may not know a lot about the differant systems.
naedoos Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 As chichichi mentioned have a look at them all then decide. I'm certainly not trying to mislead anyone, it's like everything else you get what you pay for. We've been using Unikon for four years and never had any problems, as I mentioned I don't know much on the other systems, all I was trying to do was give some imformation on what I do Know.

The reason I posted the above up was because,if you have 2 or3 differant systems in the club the secretary as to have the software loaded onto a computer for each one which causes a lot more work,so if you can keep it that all members have the same it helps no end.
Pompey Mick Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 My Club went for Unikon mainly because it can be used with the EastCoast Software which means you can automatically download Unikon times & details as well as manual input for thimble clocks. The FSS has an electronic distance input for each member using the RPRA Email distance facility which is another great time saver. All I do on clock checking is after printing the ETS race times I just connect each clock to the computer and download the info, brilliant!
GREENGRASS Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Tim i would recommend you visit some lofts and see the systems in use at the different lofts, they all do what they say but all have different options and capabilities. i use a bricon and have had no problems with it whatever, some of my clubmates use bricon also and some use unikon and all ar ehappy with their systems so just identify what you require ie no of pads, size of pads, ability to use at nationals etc etc.
Fair Play Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 One of our members has Unikon, last night they were doing a dummy run and all information came up except the velocity does the system give you automatic velocities or do you have to go down another route

T_T Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Iv'e got the Benzing M1 but because I'm the only one in the club who has ETS I havn't used it yet so can't say. I've heard it's the best ET system but each to his/her own. There are people in my club swinging to ET so will probably be able to comment further later in the season. I have also been reading about pigeons being missed when hitting pads so something not quite right there.
Fair Play Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 As far as I know he has the "Full" package he was going to read up on it some more to see if he could get all results printed. He is at the moment the only one with ETS so clock setters are still finding their way and as I said it was only a dummy run as he used a T3 to clock in.
jinky Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Fair play: If your clubmate has put in his dist and race point and lib time he will get a result with:( pos, member, pigeon, clocked, flying time,yards/min )
