Mr Yorkie Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 The Lanarkshire Fed have had a real disaster including fanciers reporting returns like 3 back out of 90. I spoke to a fancier today who started the season with 60 yb and currently has 6 sitting in his loft. The Yorkshire North Road Fed are racing from Dunbar on Saturday and our convoyer has agreed to take back all the Scottish pigeons that can be gathered up across the area and they will be collected by the Scottish lads. We know of birds across the region so if you could get these birds to YNRF collection points for Friday they will get a ride back to Scotland. Clubs in the YNRF: Harrogate, Killinghall, Swillington, Beeswing, Huby, Thirsk, Topcliffe, Cawood and Scarborough. Our convoyer is from Hull so there may also be a way to get any Scottish pigeons in Hull back up North. I believe Mick Brennan is bringing some birds down from Teesside to Wendy Jeffries who sells corn at Thirsk so I'm sure would help should you be able to get birds to him. Alternatively please drop me an email and we'll do all we can to get these poor birds back home.
Delboy Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Your a gentlewoman Yorkie and we very much appreciate your help, in this matter.
Mr Yorkie Posted August 25, 2009 Author Report Posted August 25, 2009 No problem; despite my sign in name I'm actually a female fancier!!!!! I'm keen to do all I can to help get the birds home knowing how it feels when you loose your own pigeons.

Mr Yorkie Posted August 29, 2009 Author Report Posted August 29, 2009 Three baskets were taken up and have been collected by the Lanarkshire lads this morning. The YNRF is racing from Perth next week so the same applies; take all birds to YNRF marking stations and we will get them back to Scotland on the wagon next Friday. Please can you spread the word....

Mr Yorkie Posted August 29, 2009 Author Report Posted August 29, 2009 Thanks, I'll let you know if I hear of any. This last week has shown how many true gentlemen (and ladies!) that there are in the sport. We often just hear about the rants and raves of fanciers but everyone has pulled together to help each other which is a credit to the sport. At the end of the day it's not the poor pigeons fault that something went wrong and we should always remember to put the birds wellbeing at the forefront of everything we do. I hope the three basket fulls which went up with Tony this week have made some fanciers smile this morning seeing a few more perches being filled. Long may this attitude, of doing all we can to help each other, last.

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 This a refresh for the Yorkshire fanciers that this weekend will be the last chance to have the lost young birds brought back to their owners in Scotland. Same as last week, take them to your club and they will be brought up by Tony. Thanks
