The Navigator Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Do you inject for paratyphoid, or use parastop. Also do you use Baytril before you do this or some other meds. Want to know the majority feelings please.

Want to know the majority feelings please. I do none of the above. Why? I know fanciers that have vaccinated and their pigeons have still contacted this disease. I’m of the opinion that your inviting this disease into you lofts simply by the amount of fanciers that I know that have vaccinated and gone down with it at a later date. It seems to me on percentages that fanciers that do in fact vaccinate against paratyphoid succumb to it more than those that don’t.

I think tony right any birds I get with swollen wings and legs go in the pail
robbiedoo. Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 if you give them 10 days parastop how long until they need it again and is there any place that tests for paratyphoid is so why not get birds tested first .
jimmy white Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 please note there is a thread on" sticky" ,,,above ,, on paratyphoid,, it certainly is one horrible desease, there is much to be learned by these two topics , will request they should be merged

Droppings can be sent away for screening but unfortunately paratyphoid can sometimes go undetected in such a test. If I suspected paratyphoid in my pigeons I would send one away to be tested.
robbiedoo. Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 i realise all that tony but i still havent got my question answered
