greenlands Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Hi Pigeon man,Butter milk.I got two tubs yesterday at Morrisons @ 55p each. One tub to three tubs of water,or make it upto a litre, same thing.I always put it in there drinker so don't over fill as it settles out,ie.just give them enough to keep the going till the next time you change the water. No waste that way. Lindsay
Chris Little Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Some good posts here. When do fanciers seperate their sexes as this accelerates the moult
ALF Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 i got 4 bags of barley 2 bags of no 1 mix and a bag of moulting mix at the weekend this has been mixed with the feeding i had left over from racing and it should be enough for the next 7-8 weeks so they will be going through most of the moult on this with cod liver oil added twice a week and i may get some more butternilk out of asda for them aswell

greenlands Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Any idea what it is that helps the moult in this product. To be honest mate,no idea at all, tried it for the first time last season and it worked ,possibly the acid content.Sounds good. Lindsay
wilkins Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 i see at lot of you use cod liver oil which i used to but i was worried about it becoming rancid , do you make sure they clear every bit up or do you feed it in a different way
Guest Davy Fleming Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Hi Wilkins, You are absolutely 100% correct as this does go rancid after a while and will cause all sorts of probs with bacteria. Never use it after I found out about this as was always wondering how my birds were always getting bacteria problems when having them tested in fact my friend always said to me are you using hormoform or oil of any description even feeding with pellets in it or Gemthepax and basically anything with oil as he always knew by simply looking at the screen when he was testing them. After that I never did it again and have now just completed my best season flying in 35 years.
andrecrock Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 I bought a product from the local farm shop called POULTRY SPICE,It actually says to help birds over come the moult les stres full.It contains allot of vit and mins which cant all be found in corn.I have been using it for around 3 weeks with 2 baths a week and i have to say the birds seems happy.Ugly mind!!!!!

Chris Little Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Our breeders are split up, the racers are still together sitting happily on pot eggs and will remain together till Christmas then seperated
john@formula 1 lofts Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Our breeders are split up, the racers are still together sitting happily on pot eggs and will remain together till Christmas then seperated Do you then repair them Chris or do you race them separated from then on
Chris Little Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 They are re-paired in March John. Its all about delaying the moult as far as possible in terms of primary flights for the races in June / July

wilkins Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 does anyone use a berry or a fruit juice in the drinker, i read in jack adams book he used a little blackcurrent in the drinker to help with the plumage , bit like wild birds taking fruit
