  1. The data in the chip ring can be changed. So you can use the chips from the old bird onto the young birds.
  2. One site says (possible to take part in several flights) MEDIUM The race computer MEDIUM times up to 250 pigeons. Of course it is possible to take part in several flights at the same time. The computer allocates the pigeons to the flights automatically. The version MEDIUM has the possibility to connect it with up to four loft antennas. Beside that you can connect it with a PC or a printer and use it as a club computer. A comfortable accessory is already included: The memory module. When flight data have to be transmitted to the club the race computer stays installed in the clocking system and continues its work. You just take the handy memory module and give it to your club. It contains all data which are also saved in the computer. If the module is replaced in the station there will be an automatic update with the timings which were made in the meantime for other flights. The other site says (single race capacity), UNIKON Medium Complete system featuring: 250 Bird Capacity, Base Station, Clock Module (single race capacity), Dual Ring Sensor (Max 4), 5 Meters Cable, Power Supply. So does anyone know what it can do.
  3. If a guy gets 20 birds together and you get your first bird 1 min later. Was your bird faster than the 15 birds he had not time to clock because it took him 1 min's to clock 4 of the 20. Do you think your bird should get credit for being the 5th fastest bird when in fact it was 21st. If a guy clocks 20 birds using ETS before you time your first it is only because his 20 birds were faster. I do not want false prize cards I want true results. If your going to knock ETS do it using facts The fanciers in Holland, USA and other countries did not leave the sport. They changed over to ETS and guess what they would not change back. If I do not win a race it will not be because someone has ETS it will be because my birds were not fast enough and that will be my fault plain and simple. When I do not win I look for my faults I never look to blame someone or something else. ETS is going to be another reasons losers will use for not winning as it is never their fault. You guys that say people will leave the sport do you have a crystal ball because it never happened in other countries. Do you ever stop to think how many people it could bring into the sport or how many people it will stop leaving the sport because they are no longer able to catch and clock birds. There is no point talking about advantage and disadvantage when there is noting fair about manual clocks.
  4. Adenovirosis type II is capable of causing massive liver necrosis with a characteristic course as a consecuence : there are very few symptoms as the pigeons die within 2 days.
  5. Johno. If Mr and Mrs Steven Davidson only wanted to keep their membership and as you have said they had no legal representation why did the club feel the need to hire a lawyer? I would have thought that the club would only have hired a lawyer when they got a letter from Mr and Mrs Steven Davidson lawyer.
  6. Will each ETS system have its own rings? Can any ETS system read another systems ring? Will the club have to have same system and rings as the national centers or will the centers have to have a base for all the systems.
  7. What price is ets to set up?
  8. Who sells the traps
  9. Modern day house insurance also covers legal fees and not many know that.
  10. I was always lead to believe that they could not take the roof from over you head everything else yes but not your house. The only people that can take your house are those people who have lent you money on the security of it.
  11. I also take the fronts off, it also makes cleaning much easer. You can also take just one half off that is just as good.
  12. The young bird out for two days, just let it rest could be just flew out and the dropping can be like that for a couple of days after they come back as it was probably eating anything it could find. What age is the old bird is it a hen or cock is it about to lay?

    Gun Crime

The police may not want to press charges because it is hard to prove criminal intent. That does not stop the owner of the pigeon suing the shooter or farmer for financial loss. If someone drove into the back of your car it does not matter if it was done by accident they still have to pay the up. You do not have to commit a crime to be liable for damages.

    Gun Crime

You are so wrong, It is not legal to shoot a bird that has a ring on its leg. Here is the uk law on shooting of pigeons before you read I must point out that any racing pigeon with a ring on its leg cannot be classed as a feral pigeon as it has a legal owner. PIGEON SHOOTING AND THE LAW Woodpigeon shooting is controlled by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 in Britain and the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 in Northern Ireland. Woodpigeons may be killed or taken by authorised persons at all times. It is strictly prohibited to use any sound recording or live bird as a decoy. Currently woodpigeon shooting continues under an open general licence issued by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions for England and Wales, the Scottish Office Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries Department for Scotland and the Environment and Heritage Service for N. Ireland. No individual application is required for any licence. In Britain the shooting of Collared Doves (Streptopelia decaocto) and the feral pigeon (Columba livia) is also permitted all year round but the Stock Dove (Columba oenas), Rock Dove (Columba livia) and Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur) are all protected species and may not be shot at any time. In N. Ireland the Collared Dove is protected and no pigeons can be shot either at night or on Sundays. The legality of shooting pigeons in Scotland on Sundays remains unclear. The Stock Dove is often mistakenly called the 'Blue Rock' and great care must be taken as these birds often fly with woodpigeons and come readily to decoys. The feral pigeon is a direct descendent of the Rock Dove (which is usually only found on western coasts), and will be mainly seen close to urban areas. Note: wild-living, former racing and homing pigeons often fly with feral pigeons but these birds are strictly protected. Whilst they normally have leg rings to show their ownership, identification in the field can be difficult so, if in doubt, do not shoot. So if you where shooting birds with rings on their leg you were breaking the law and should not own a gun.
  15. Are you fishing for a fool?
  16. when mixed with sugar it needs to be ignited but it just only has to come into contact with antifreeze and it will ignite. As far as the fire balls all over the sky, I was making a joke because when mixed with sugar it is use to make fireworks. The point I was trying to make was why use something to kill lice if it does not kill them all?

It is not legal to shoot a racing pigeon there is a ring on its leg so you can report it shooting a racing pigeon is no more legal than shooting a stray dog. If there is a ring on its leg them then it has a legal owner and you have no right to shoot it lost or not lost.

    Gun Crime

Tell the owner of the land they are shooting on that you will be sending him the bill for any valuable birds you lost because the people he has given permission to shoot over his land, shot them. He is the one that has given these people permission to shoot on his land and can be held reasonable for any damage they do while shooting on his land. It is a lot easer to stop the shooting than it is to prove someone shot your bird.
  19. Does no harm so long as it is not to strong, It is used to purify water in survival kits look on it as a kind of bleach.
  20. It will only keep the numbers of lice down and not kill them all and if you make it up to strong you will burn the birds. Why not use one of the many products that are safe to use and one that will kill all lice? I do not see the point in just killing some as the others will just breed. Your right they used it 40 years ago but things have moved on. No cafe in sky well not round these parts
  21. A friend told me he had ordered them from China at 33p each

    Iodine

Putting Iodine in the drinking water in my view is not as good as putting in Vinegar. Before Iodine came about they use vinegar as a disinfectant i.e. delivering babies washing down before operation etc. You will find vinegar is better than Iodine for drinking as vinegar only kills the bad bacteria and does not harm the good.
  23. I do not see why you are using Potassium permanganate to keep lice of the birds lets hope the do not come into contact with sugar or you will have fire balls all over the sky.
  24. It may have got over its illness and still carry the micro-organisms but it has built up an immunity to keep it in check. Its own young will have had this immunity passed on to them but other young birds from other parents will not have. If it was to pass these micro-organisms onto other young birds that did not have the immunity then these young birds would get sick before they built up their own immunity against it. I do not know the answer and I am not saying that this is true it is just thoughts I am having and hopefully someone will put me right. There are flocks of chickens that have a good bacteria that fight of salmonella and the droppings from these flocks are made into a spray and sprayed onto day old chicks of other flocks. The droppings are also dried and mixed in with the food this good bacterium protects them from salmonella. Could the same be done for pigeons by taking the dropping from a healthy flock and bring it to a flock that was not healthy. Could there be a good bacteria that protect some lofts from ever getting one of the young bird sicknesses? There are a lot of lofts that have never seen young bird sickness so what is it that protects their young birds could it be something as simple as a good bacteria?
  25. Is it the same for hens and cocks? I was told the longer the better I do not know if this is true but it seems all good bird have long squared off feathers. I would also like to know if these feathers change with age or moult. I was told the the end flight of a good bird should be a bit longer than the one next to it. I found it could be longer one year then the next moult it was not.
