  1. Sounds like the recession is starting to bite. ;D ;D ;D
  2. jack pm me your name an address and I will pop 3 dvds in the post for you
  3. They are both 100% and I also use both but it is nice to have a back up. It is unfair to say one is better than the other until you have used both and in my eyes they both do what they are paid to do and that is deliver the birds ASAP. The difference I found was one uses pick up and collection points and the other is door to door. There is also difference in price and at that time one was charging £7 a bird and the other £10 a bird. It is good for us the pigeon fanciers to have a choice as this will also keep the price down.
  4. Your having a laugh Mick
  5. That puts it in a nutshell Jimmy and I agree 100%
  6. Jimmy would it not be better to buy from proven breeders?
  7. I would have said breeding is king, a stud has to be breeding winners for other fanciers and to do that it needs a loft full of good breeding pairs not winning birds. Racing studs or none racing studs it makes no difference good birds and bad birds can be found in both. A racing stud or none racing stud should be judged on the performances other fanciers are having with their birds and not by its own racing results. Many racing studs race 100 + birds into a good location but their birds do not do so well when they are raced by other fanciers. You also have to take into account the strike rate, some studs sell 1000's and can only boast 10 winners at the end of the year. Intelligent none racing studs owners have the young birds from their breeding pairs tested by some of the top racing lofts both here and on continent before they go onto the open market. This gives them a better idea of how good they are as the birds are racing against already winning family's of birds. There are some fantastic birds to be had in none racing studs two that come to mind are Peter Fox of syndicate lofts and John Gerard, the birds from these two small studs are winning all over the world at the very highest level.
  8. Jimmy I live in northern Ireland and my club had one of my young birds reported in Germany. The first young bird race was still four weeks away so this bird was still very young. All the guys in the club still talk about this young bird making it to Germany at such a young age. What they don't know is that I had sent it to the German one loft race LOL ;D ;D ;D
  9. There is another guy here in northern Ireland I use all the time, he collects the birds at your loft and takes them to the loft of the new owner. No having to drive 30 miles to meet him. George Johnston Pigeon Recovery. Tel 02892683756 mobile 07757637889
  10. I know a man who bought a young hen from a one loft race and it went on to breed winners for him and his friends one of his friends was 1st and 2nd fed with two nest mates from this hen. He went to the next years sale to buy another hen bred by the same No Name fancier but he was to late and missed it. The hen he missed also bred winners for its new owner + the RPRA yearling one loft race winner.
  11. If Mr No Name birds from the UK are beating Mr Big Names birds from the continent in the one loft races. I would be buying my birds from Mr No Name.
  12. If they have stopped the molt then you need to put the lights on in the loft for 16 hours a day. The birds will then start the molt where they left off. It will take about 7 to 10 days for them to drop the first old flight. Once the last flight drops go back to normal day light hours. If you do not want to do this then try cutting the tops of the flights they have not dropped, theses flights will then die and you can pull them in two weeks. In saying all that I never worry about birds that hold onto the last flight. Ps only give the light to the birds that need to drop the flights.
  13. To find the best birds I think you have to look to the one loft races around the world. The birds in these lofts come from all over the world and are trained and race on a level playing field. The race becomes bird against bird and not fancier against fancier or system against system. They also take away one of the biggest advantages in pigeon racing loft location. I often wonder why some of the top names in the sport with their supper fast birds never enter the one loft races? No one strain or family of birds dominate these races but if it was country against country my money would be on Germany.
  14. I for one only ask the question as to what had made the young birds sick as I was interested in buying some and I was told it was a young bird type virus contacted. I ask for the name of the virus and It turns out that the virus was Circo virus. This is not a young bird virus as it effects both young and old birds. I do not apologize for asking these questions as I think it is the right of every buyer. Please read up on this virus and then make you own mind up http://www.pigeoncote.com/vet/circo/circo.html
  15. Here in the UK we hear YBS and think it is all caused by the same bacteria or virus. Nothing could be further from the truth as the young birds could be infected by a simple bacteria or a deadly virus. Some viruses have no lasting effects and others will set you back years. I do not know the seller and have no axe to grind and can see from the posted that this seller is well known and well liked but the longer this simple question (what virus?) goes unanswered the more suspicious these bargain priced young birds sound.
  16. If a bird is sick treat it, How many top sports men have never had a cold or flu?
  17. Stuart did I read somewhere that the lofts where closed down for 2 months in the midle of racing because of sickness? If so can you give me some info on what this sickness was.
