In 2000 we entered our first one loft type race, it was run by Nigel Cowood. At that time One Loft racing was something new.
It was a great experience, one difference was we were sent MNFC rings which were obviously in Nigel's name. The main race was the first of the two MNFC young bird nationals then the second one from Picauville was optional which followed up by another Picauville the week after with the Nothern Claasic.
This whole set up was limited to about 100 - 150 birds and money wasn't the main focus unlike todays events, it was just enjoyment following your birds progress, our entry was duly returned following a successful campaign and ended up in the breeding shed.
The birds were raced / trained in his club / federation then with MNFC & Northern Classic, there was no politics, hassle, bickering etc then so whats changed now........ money !!!
