I am looking for a fancier local to Stockport (Cheadle Hulme). I've been asked if there is anyone who would be able to help an amateur theatre group Saturday 25th October to Saturday 1st November. The production is about world war one and group of soldiers one of which has a pigeon. The scene the pigeon is required for lasts about 10 minutes and initially would be in a basket, and they would like to get the pigeon out of the basket and hold it for a short period before the end of the scene. As far as I know the production is every night from 25th October to 1st November. They are happy to look after the pigeon during this time, or the fancier can bring/take it each night. The pigeon will feature in the programme, and the fancier will be acknowledged also. If anyone is able and interested to help these guys out just send me a message and I'll pass details on.

As you say Mark, you have donated to the site in the past, and would be waived the £20 to become a seller even if you stated you were a professional. The 10% figure is a ball park suggestion, equally if you sold something for £10 we wouldn't expect a cheque for £1 (wait until you sold more or donate a bird to the charity sales), and say if your 12 pairs went for £80 each = £960. £96 donation isnt required as long as a donation is made everyone is happy. The reason for the 10% recommended is (1) a lot of people were asking how much did they need to donate, and (2) some of the other pigeon sale sites charge listing fees, final value fees or a % of upto nearly 20% for similar services - we dont think a ball park 10% is excessive.

If someone decides to run at such a loss as that - 36 birds @ £10 that is up to them :-/ If you make £360 or sell more than 12 birds a year it certainly isnt a hobby anymore, you are making money, even if it is small and even if it goes towards your corn bill. That's pretty much as it is now :-/
-
I dont fully understand your point here 'not making from the birds'. The definition of professional is just for selling here on Pigeonbasics, I'm not saying a fancier by selling over £360 is a professional in any other sense of the word If you've got a good idea on how to split it, please share. I'll use it if I agree
-
Yep, it must have been a long day at work the day I drew up the details I've now edited it to reflect what I want it to say! The reason for the £360 = professional definition is that a regular fancier may breed a couple of pairs to sell, or missed putting pot eggs in so sells them on. But in breeding more than 12 that are sold it is assumed that you are breeding to sell, which I'd deem 'professional'

Please please read my post :'( :'( This topic doesnt have any pictures on it - none of these comments should be associated with Ted's photos at all, I split the photos topic with the sectional/losses comments to form this topic. The photo are still on under 'UNC lib'.
-
The discussion about the liberation photos, and the number of groups being liberated together are separate issues (which I split the original topic for). I think there is a misunderstanding/confusion coming from that. Bewted your photos are great It's really good to see the other end of things when we're waiting at the loft for the birds. The losses/sectional liberations do require a knowledge of the way the UNC is run, and as such may be a discussion for UNC members but that in no way takes away someone else's comment/suggestion/question because they are from another area.

Well done, 1st of many

If it's the old airfield (I think it is) here's a map http://maps.google.com/maps?q=51.855278,0.639722&ie=UTF8&ll=51.856961,0.642958&spn=0.029898,0.092182&z=14 Note that I've split this topic with the Peterborough comments forming a new topic 'UNC Peterborough'.
-
I've split this topic from 'UNC next race'. The 2 cut split is east/west I think - which always seemed odd to me given the combine is only a few miles wide :-/

Well done Sam, fantastic

There's quite a neat trick if you just want to print part of the page. Select the part of the page you want (click and drag - it'll be highlighted). Then click 'File - Print' and then choose the Print Range to 'Selection' instead of 'All'. Works on FireFox, haven't tried Internet Explorer

There are ways and means of getting your point across. Unfortunately the point you were making (which is often very good) was undermined by your initial derogatory comments. Lots of people have replied in similar vein to your point without resorting to using this type of comment. When and where we can we will try and moderate out only the offending comments, but in this case that was not possible. This forum is all about asking questions and getting advice, derogatory comments towards a member will not be tolerated.
