  1. thanks jimmy, alot of scottish young birds being reported down your way due to heavy losses this year... i'm sure some have prob ended up in the stray centre.
  2. does anyone have the phone number for the NEHU stray centre in hartlepool.
  3. Dundee Fed have cancelled for a saturday race from otterburn, basketting tomorrow afternoon for a sunday race... lets hope the peregrines have a long lie!! Any body else postponed?
  4. spot on, the kingdom fed went before us and got hit by peregrines... then we went and got the same! these raptors are not daft and they ceratinly know what a pigeon transporter is, well in there eyes McDonalds on wheels!! were gonna try the rockets this year to hopefully prevent a strike, but then again with so many feds there this week how are we gonna prevent clashing! thirteen feds say liberating at 30 min intevals would take 6 1/2 hours, cant see this happening so be prepared for worse on saturday.
  5. how did the race go? what were the leading velocities and final returns? we are there this saturday and our biggest fear is the peregrines!... well plus the weather at the moment. did the glasgow fed witness any strikes by peregrines or hawks?
  6. racing from arniston into dundee again tomorrow, weather looking very dodgy with a lot of mist lying in the northeast corner. any weather advice or from fanciers in these areas would be appreciated, just not sure how many to send.... if any!!!
  7. ... all late breds have been snapped up! none left..

came in tonight, i reckon prob a fife bird as they are a few fanciers in fife with RPRA rings, any takers?
  12. too true mate! I have every thing written down that i have picked up over the last two year from top fanciers like yourself.
  13. thanks lads... ye i did mean a new record in or own fed, sorry if any misundering standing Stevie-b spot on about club limits but no limit in fed.
  14. Our first young bird race from Arniston turned out to be 'cracker' for my partner and myself, Brown & Donachie... as most fanciers know we fly two lofts at two different locations, yesterday i reckon we have set a new Fed Record which will take some beating, we had the first four in one club, first ten pigeons in the other club and the FIRST SEVENTEEN pigeons in the Fed! blowing yer own trumpet maybe, but we are chuffed to bits!!
  15. we've had 18 tosses, start off with six short ones 2-6 miles, then letham, freuchie, kirkcaldy all in fife... after first race hopefully all going well will work them around to inverkeithing then over the forth.
  16. we laeve dundee at 5.30am when training, no majors complaints up till now... but a few scary rides along the way, when we train further we have been known to be away for 4.30am.

  18. ... not with ya m8?
  19. just didnt bother to ring them, they were fostered by some of our widowhood cocks to give them a nest after a hard season racing!
  20. is there any truth in the theory that letting off a firework rocket before lib is enough to keep them away and give your birds a chance to clear
  21. We have some cracking latebreds in the nest without rings and would be a great start for a beginner, one of which is from our eastbourne winner (418 miles) this year. Would only cost you the carraige, PM for more details.
  22. me personally wouldnt reach for the antibiotics initially and wouldnt isolate the young birds showing signs, starve your entire team for a minimum of 24 hours (36 if needed) then gradually feed them up on a depurative, start of with a quarter feed then half unitil you get up to a full feed, then slowly switch them over to a light mix (gerry plus) and you will find most will pull through if you nab them in the early stages. every morning if you have say 36 young birds then pick up 6 at random and feel there crops, all being well should be empty. but i do agree that you will have to be aware of the secondry infection, if using any products then belgica de weerdt would be my first choice. if you still have a youngster that hasnt responded to this then i would mix up some baytril in a small tupperware dish and syringe 2-2.5ml down the throat twice a day for 7 days all the while the youngster still mixing with the team. i did this with a young bird last year, he flew young bird programme out to 204 miles and last week was my time in from eastbourne as a yearling 419 miles, he finished 1st Club,7th Fed, 27th Section,82nd Open SNFC... 3841 birds
  23. bloody hell, birds were only timed in on sunday and this is only tuesday... if you think you can do a better job!!! its comments like these that stop fanciers taking on jobs in any organisation, so easy to sit in your arm chair and blow gas!!!!!
