  5. Direct from the Dutch extreme long distance flyers the Lowik Brothers i can offer six pigeons all NL rung from there lofts. These pigeons were purchased by myself and Joe & Kevin Murphy, we generally take them in turn to breed from... this season we have decided to part with them having put some offspring in both our race teams and some select later breds back into our stock lofts. Obviously it will take 2-5 years minimum to trial them at the distances races of 500 miles plus, so we cannot comment on performances at the moment, but one thing we are sure of they will cross with other inbred distance families as they are a beautiful type of pigeon which handle great and have beautiful feathering. If anyone is genuinely interested in these pigeons please PM me and i will forward required information. Pedigrees have also been forwarded to Mark Evans (Heart of England Auctions) who will be selling them on our behalf in the new year, but it is first come first served. Should they fail to sell we will be quite happy to keep them in our stock lofts for future breeding and they will not be offered again. This could be somebody's New Year Bargain sale!

  9. DESPITE SOME RUMOURS IT HAS NOW BEEN CLARIFIED THE OUR SHOW... IS GOING AHEAD AS SCHEDULED! ... see you all there on the day.
  10. it would appear that fanciers are shying away from the fact that the use of antibiotics/medication correctly could be beneficial to our 'athletes of the sky' as mentioned in this post some of the leading fanciers in the UK let alone worldwide are using some form of medication to keep there pigeons in peak physical condition and these are the lads who are hammering most other fanciers on a saturday... Dave Allen is without a doubt a fancier who ranks as one of the UK's finest and i quote from his RP article 9th November 2001... 'it's sad but I am afraid that in this day and age to compete successfully you have to revert to the medicine cupboard from time to time...'
  11. very nice pigeon Paul... would recommend these birds to anyone, they are exceptional quality from a loft the wins more than average every season!

  14. ... we now have additional sponsorship for this show, BEST IN SHOW.... £50.00 CASH plus Trophy[face=Arial][/face]
  15. nothing better than an avairy, if bird is familiar with its surroundings then they always seem to work way back if shut out at other end... overnight if need be, i have wire doors inside my loft doors which remain open on good days, good enough for breaking birds. a cock driving mad and let out with his hen wont venture far, a hen on due to hatch eggs even if ventures to her old loft will generally be back on her nest by night fall.
  16. ... the best Dundee pies you will taste lads! a show not to be missed, we have now got a £50 sponsor which is to be put up for Best In Show. will forward you that post code for yer SAT NAV.
  17. Being a competitive bodybuilder i can tell you the use of creatine can only be over say a 8-10 week period to gain maximum effects... initially you load up with the supplement over a ten day period then onto a maintenace dose the remainder of the course, you know when you are using and the effects are clearly obvious when lifting in the gym... as for water retention never suffered to much from this myself. Protein in any from of althlete wether it be a human, horse or pigeon has to be fed into the the muscle through calculated measures... ye any excess will be flushed down the bog or on the dung heap, needed though for repair and growth. Carbs however is the more trickier part, used a the fuel required when the muscles are put to strenious excercise or exertion, two much carbs causes an over spill which will more than often be stored as fat, too little then the body will start to break down muscle tissue and convert for energy... like is say a bit more trickier. Carb loading is a system body builders use prior to an onstage competition to full up the muscle, tighten the skin and give that full pumped look with vascularity like a road map... usually carried out after a period of carb depleting to loss fat and gain condition. Carbing pigeons up i feel would be good for short to middle distance racing, where a quick short burst of energy sustained over the shorter distances is required. An excellent product used by bodybuilders is vitargo (barley starch) whioch is absorbed into the muscles 70% faster than other commonly used carbs like maltodextrin, dextrose etc., not seen it in pigeon form yet. www.vitargo.co.uk
  18. ...that thought had occured to me! the little sh*t always dives in food tin then first to hopper... traps through stall trap no bother!
  19. ... treat for nowt just now whether they are strays or not, anything showing signs of strain or weakness eliminate immediately... then get droppings tested if all clear leave well alone, with having a lot of pigeons from a lot of different sources and they are all keeping well you could well have a good high natural immunity, do not lower/destroy this with treating blind as this is when your trouble could start... dont fix what aint broken!
  20. ... sorry i meant would there be any advantage for the racers? got one in the loft just now (unrung) that wandered in one day, so i gave it a perch for the night and now it has made itself at home... let it out with my team of 16 latebreds and it climbs quite high above the racers then drops down, seen it roll for first time yesterday... very good to watch.
  21. ... are there any adavantages in exercising rollers with a team of racers, eg flying higher and longer?
  22. thanks George, if we get enough response for 08 YB's and raise extra cash we are thinking putting a cash prize for best results by a YB from the Sale.
  23. okay dokay
  24. It will be held in the Dundee United Social Club, St.Salvador Street, Dundee Judging will start at 11.00am, will post classes tomorrow with all details. if anyone has an odd latebred or a 2008 YB for our sale that would be great, all proceeds are to purchase members ETS rings for next year, as they are a bit costly for fanciers.
