Dundee & Angus Feds both got a bit of tanking y'day from Witton Castle from a 7am lib., although nothing near as bad as you lads... my heart goes out too all these fanciers counting the empty perches this morning.
Something has to be done... i've suggested sunday yb racing at our agm but some fanciers look at you as if you were some kind of an idiot, prob the same lads that have lost all there birds and now complaining.
I'm pretty sure race controllers must have known about the north road libs at berwick yesterday? it looks pretty much clashing did occur and the 'L' fed came off the worse, why not sit tight let the english go past then lib about 1100-1200 o'clock? play safe...
Did the controllers know? if not why cant the SHU and RPRA issue all libs that are taking place at the weeks ends on there website, with contact numbers that controllers can use?
Once the birds are up race controllers dont suddenly become air traffic controllers, our feathered friends are then in the 'hands of the gods', but lets at least make there job a wee bit easier by applying a bit more common sense when liberating past 100 miles, more so with young birds... old birds will generally correct them selves if getting tangled up and returns are usually quite acceptable.
What has happened yesterday cant be shrugged off as being 'doo racing for ya', we need to be all singing from the same hymn sheet to prevent this type of racing happening, ye i agree we will always get a dodgy race here n there but if the birds get a chance to work to bring returns up to an acceptable level then that is 'doo racing for ya'...
Lets hope we get a good weeks weather with nice south winds to let our birds work home, and lets not forget about this week end when the season closes, our perches are refilled then come the agm nobody seems to give a hoot.
