would be a fantastic idea for PIGEONS in the West of Scotland, all the way to France if "me" had my way. But as you have just read, sadly senior officials of the Lanarkshire fed are more interested in token tickets and recognition for performances from inland races. Nothing wrong in appreciating great birds performing from any distance, but this is an opportunity that will be missed much to detriment of PIGEONS in west central Scotland shame really.

Aye and your a lang time died Alf lad some its lets get on and make the best of it while you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks Alf mate your kind comments are appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

some of the nonsense printed in this thread is completely laughable if you have ever spoken to any of the poor ex members of the now disbanded Kirkintilloch RPC who will tell you exactly the devious methods used by the office bearers to extract the club from the Glasgow Fed in order to get into the east section of the SNFC. FACT - It is now decided by the SNFC (from roundabout 2004)what section existing members of the club are allowed to fly in, nothing to do with individual clubs or feds. Still, I find it is disturbing there are some members of this forum who will believe anything they are fed. By the way I am back lads ITS AMAZING WHAT SOME NEW DRUGS CAN DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess I disagree with most of the posts so far, if you are racing hens especially, same routine, same routine, change completely, then revert. Hope this helps.

During the early part of the year if they look fine not a lot. If you are "hammering" them later in the year "B12" and not a lot more. Let your eye be the judge!

sound advice as far as i am concerned.

Hugh had a yeast problem with his birds a few years back and that was when he started using it. I have used it in the bath water for many years, but you have to be careful when you use it if you have birds feeding youngsters.

Nope Bruno lad you are wrong, if I remember we had this "discussion" many moons ago(we must be getting old) the header tank is the tank providing water in chicken sheds for example. Virkon s can be used in the drinking fountains and the dosage is the thing to get right I would use 2.5ml to the gallon but it is not a product you would use everyday and most certainly not when there was youngsters you wanted in the nest. Use when convenient for 3 days then follow with multivits and then a probiotic for at least 3 days after that.

No one using this drug correctly and responsibly would damage a birds immune system. The second point quoted is absolute nonsense, it is not that long ago that vet medicines had no use by dates whatsoever.

Your being silly now Gareth it was quite obviously a rhetorical question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thought closing down clubs was Delboys speciality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did'nt know Pete at all, but I am still, through my own personal experiences able to appreciate what his family are going through and I would record my sympathy and thoughts to them at what is a terrible time. However, Pete was and we are, pigeon men and women and we should try and make sure Pete's birds get a fair crack at it now he has gone and is now no longer able to look after them. I have no doubt Pete's family would want that and even more importantly Pete would demand it of us. So if it is via a sale or any other way let us all try our best to make sure Pete's pigeons are looked after.

what this has to "doo" with pigeons god only knows. Saying that, what "extra" specialist equipment does the best equiped army in the history of the British armed forces need to fight a bunch of religious nutters driving around on honda 50cc bikes carrying secondhand guns and making and planting homemade bombs. This is war not a computer game get used to it! Should we be there? Thats a different question altogether.

There were few better than Hughie thats for sure and as far as I recall he never lost a bird by doing this. Saying that it was many many years ago and even after he stopped doing it he was still winning, he was just a great dooman!
-
More chance of us getting yet another inland "national" "me" thinks Gareth!
-
who asked you? Frank was only asking pigeon fanciers who are not bitter and twisted.
-
its obviously pmv jag the lot right now if you can separate ones with visible syptoms into a basket the warmth will do them good. Completely gut the hut the others are in and spray with virkon s remove any new cases as they occur. Some will avoid it, some will recover but how good they will be? not so sure!
-
If the guy who posted this is a genuine dooman sadly it tells you all you need to know about where the game is going and it ain't coming back!

When I was younger removing a birds "rubber" was the time honoured method of informing the owner his bird was a strag. Of course he could have made you send for it and cost you £30 or you could get it a new "rubber" £1.50?. And there is a third course of action you could take which is the one I would recommend!

Bruno lad have you started to read my old posts? The pigeon equivalent of septicaemia is what kills pigeons infected with cocci! Kill (cidal) the invaders in the blood stream and the condition is cured. Malucidin used to be remarkable in its ability to fight the extreme forms that afflicted young birds. Where do you get that now? No idea but there are now more modern and equally effective cures. Dry droppings do help by the way, big time!!! Beware pro bio products with this, because once the gut wall is breached they are absolutely useless!!

I agree with Tammy it is possible to get your birds to drink almost anything ! But will it help them score from 500 miles on a hard day?
