  1. Hi Buddy As on Saturday's here the birds are fed once a day and only 15grams of a depurative type mixture. To make sure digestion is right
  2. The build up for 510 miles started today. Birds being fed 50/50 mixture both morning and night. The morning feed consisted of 15grams per pigeon of a depurative and a heavy protein mixture, and the evening same mixture but 20 grams per pigeon. Mondays feed will consisted of 100% protein mixture and will bE 15 grams morning and night.
  3. Racing north road and south road are two different ball games, but for me what Mark Bulled toldMe in conversations with him many years ago regardless off the route always rings true, too get your best results you must send your best, it's just depending on whether you have the balls to send your best that far!
  4. To get the best results I'm a believer you must send your best, not just send the birds that have done nothing all year!
  5. Dal, how can I really give a number? My best hen pigeon at 72 miles, is one of my best at 500 miles. One of my best cock racers at 177 miles is also one of my best at 500 miles.
  6. Jonesy, I require my birds to compete at every distance
  7. Birds had a disaster, all home but well off the pace. Tomorrow the buildUp for Thurso is going to start as I had messed up my days. One more sprint old bird race left.
  8. Fats are the most important source of energy for a pigeon imo, I would happily feed no carbs for a race, but I'd never send a pigeon without feeding plenty of fats regardless the distance. For me fat loading starts Monday evening, but the full effect kicks in from Tuesday
  9. For me it isn't a watered down, but for those feeding heavy protein mixtures it would. Best way to describe it would be similar to Vanronaeys Maurice Cassaert depurative but with added fats
  10. Fred it depends what you want from young birds, I expect and want my birds to win from day 1, so my young bird feed would be considered watered down, and it's very rare my young birds will see a pea unless it's on a sunday to recover the muscle lost from the race
  11. Today will see both feeds for the distance pigeons consisting of what I would call a heavy in protein mixture, which is a mixture of maple peas, green peas, yellow peas, and mung beans. Regarding measurements it's 15grams each morning and night today so making the quantity for the day being around 1oz and 1/4. The distance pigeons as they will be sitting around til basketing they will be trained regular, and tuesday will see them going 47 miles. My good hen Scratch was hawked at Perth, so unfortunately she will be unable to go to Thurso, the race I wanted her to go all year, but she made it home which is the main thing.
  12. For me it's multipurpose eye, race as well as breed
  13. Today saw all the distance minded pigeons being left together with Thurso in mind. These won't race now till the event but will receive training to Keep them ticking, the cocks may go to this coming weeks race sent on the drive. The sprint pigeons still on widowhood. I haven't seen the previous weeks fed result yet to update where we are on that. When I start my two week build up for Thurso I will go quiet in depth for those that are interested
  14. Racing from Perth today 368 miles the same hen that won the club last week from 114 miles, wins again. Ended up 1st and 2nd in one club, and 2nd and 3rd in the other. Interestingly the hen who won today was out all winter from the last yb race and returned on 13th march this year!! Her dam is from Bill Walsh's marcel wouters watch this space as on pipa on the 19th her grandparents go for sale.
  15. Archie send me a pm with what your actual routine is, if I can help you out I will, but when birds come back from training the only thing on there mind should be entering the loft.
  16. I would have them in the basket Archie, if they are spending hours on someone's roof, you need to adjust what you are doing

    Wee Fifer

    Well done any photos?
  18. The hens do it again with winning 1st and 4th club, the cocks sent in the other club was 5th and 6th from Newark The week coming is Perth with the London north road combine, all. It's will be nazalined and naturaline in the drinker, with nuts and hemp increased as the days go on upto basketing.
  19. 8th,9th,10th,11th,13th and 14th federation for Saturday just gone
  20. Nope closes weekend for me to 16th June
  21. Hen who was 31st combine Berwick 306 miles, wins the club this week from 114 miles. The hens take 1st,2nd and 4th club. She is nest sister to last years fed yb of the year and a previous winner herself. The cocks take 3rd,4th and 5th club. The cock who was 3rd previously has 2x2nds this year and has been racing with a broken flight all season. The sticker donckers cross is proving to be a real success here
  22. Just been told the 2nd timer was 31st open in the London north road combine
  23. Peter if the two cocks are telling you they are coming up the front, why the doubt in sending them, they would be my number one choice then the 4 hens that are trailing behind, and I'd start by removing the hens two days before basketing, to make both sexes keener
