Chris Balson and Henry Gonsalves were advocates for doing this, by getting say 10 old rings, pairing up early to mid november, training them when 3 months old, which would be early march time, train them really hard, and then compete with them against peoples old birds, they found the young birds where even beating there old birds middle april. Always been tempted to experiment with it, however never found the time, but might be ideal for you.

Always use balloons in the young bird shed up until 3 months old, there used to banging and clanging and any wild movements and get them dead tame, but they have to be done from weaning, they are full of confidence and never nervous. I know many fanciers who use flooters(plastic footballs) also to the same effect!

Would be an excellent buy if they were winning consistently. If the said fancier is winning well, and winning well now buy them. However do your homework dont just buy them cos there lambrechts, Lambrechts are good pigeons but they are very over hyped. I would ask to see some proof of results from the said fancier, before i spent any hard earned cash.

What is your opinion on the distance you should take your youngsters on there first toss. i've always taken them first toss 20 mile after 3-4 tosses they usually get there head round it and do good time. However i hear many start with small distance and increase what is your opinions on what is better?
