Sorry, all sold, not a rat left in Wales
  2. When you think how many planets must be out there the Earth is no more than a grain of sand on the beach so there must be more life out there and some a lot more intelligent, probably breed a winner in every nest

    Rats

A word of warning, Don't pick rats up by the tail unless wearing gloves, they carry Weils disease which can be fatal, it is carried in the rats urine and the tail can drag through this

    Sparrowhawk On Loft

No chance mate, he's hardly big enough to take a blackbird, even a hen would struggle to take and carry in the air, if you've seen it happen that would be a Gos hawk, nightmare

    Sparrowhawk On Loft

Once your birds are airborne the s/hawk doesn't stand much chance, it's surprise grabs she relies on, when the birds are perched around the loft

    Sparrowhawk On Loft

I know I should have that problem but I don't and I've tried it both ways, unfit birds don't stand a chance

    Sparrowhawk On Loft

Hi Magpie, I'm sorry to hear of your losses, I can only say in reply, my birds are on open loft all year and my losses are minimal, I live in rural West Wales and we have all BOP's here, I think shutting them up puts them at a disadvantage as the BOP's are fit at all times and I think our birds need to be on open loft to compete with them.
  11. I can understand why people dislike them with their feeding habits but at the end of the day it's like BOP'S, they are born to do what they do, they build a domed nest of twigs and it is very secure from predators like Buzzards and rear about 6 young in a nest, as with other BOP'S on here they are described as evil, but that is not so, they only kill to feed not for pleasure and I must say I'm not vegetarian so I rely on someone else slaughtering my dinner
  12. Great service, had new nest bowls this morning, ordered the week-end
  13. Hi IB,are you saying the Magpie is a fairly recent newcomer to Scotland as I've seen them all my life and you are right they are big raiders of nests and very intelligent, they watch parents feeding to locate nests, I have a pair that nest 20ft. from the house, I feed them pigeon eggs to keep down their nest raiding
