  8. Roland I Have sent yearlings 400miles plus over the water wae limited success. There are a number of top notch fanciers in my area that send, and get, yearlings at the distance. I tend to see the fanciers with the larger teams testing their yearlings on a more regular basis, the reason i think is quite obviously that they have more resources than most and probs have a team of yearlings tucked up in loft ready to be two year olds. The smaller flier is always thinkin of them as two year olds so he has a decent team to compete with the next year. Have been told many times by fanciers far more successful than me that a two year old over the water for first time can be a goldmine. This is JMO and obviously there will be lots of yearlings sent this year by lots of fanciers in different situations and i wish them the best o luck. Cheers steven

    Darkness

Your birds are forced into an artificially early body moult. They think its winter basically. This means that in august and september they have an advantage as they are in better feather than the birds who are moulting naturally. Birds that are bear around the neck and face and low on cover will not beat a full featherd bird assuming fitness is correct. Some say that the performance as yearlings declines because of the unnatural moult but havent noticed it yet.

    Darkness

Darken for approx 14 hours a day for at least 10 weeks (some do less). Let them out for execrcise as normal but not straight away after removing shutter/curtain/blind give them time to adjust
  19. I race in a mega competitive club and take my fair share of loses but always aiming to win in june and july. The 98% rule is quite right but the truth is u must accumulate to speculate. The birds that you send you hope can do the job and are prob are bred from the best you have. Last year I had a cock that top the fed and this year is a pile of steamin. He is from the best I could breed so how do you way it up?
  20. Take it thats the youngun that you aquired. Hope it does the biz the breedin canny be much better.
  21. Bang on whitty, Could never see me gan back tae a natural system now. I feel the condition is much easier kept on the widowhood and the fanciers control can be implemented easier.
  22. You should check oot gettin ready thread
  23. Had the same conversation last nite at club when an egg was found frae last week and a fanciers arithmetic was brought intae question
  24. Cmon john still time.Form temporary un all that Cheers steven
