They've waited for 11 days before, I believe. Apparently there are facilities there in the case of exceptional long hold-overs.

Best of luck to all that sent.

Give mine a tow as well will you? Send a message up to your birds. My two are in the hen's basket.

That would be super John. Many thanks. Just post it on this thread unless I manage to put up the lib details on a separate one. Andy

Enjoyed speaking with Tam at the marking. We hope for good returns and aim to build on this race. We are also considering some other Open races, but the decision is one for the future.

Still got 3 cocks and a hen from last year Jimmy. One of the cocks has been hawked and is finished for the year, one of the other two had a close call and has a couple of secondaries and tail feathers out, the third one is racing fairly well. The hen has had a few races and will be jumped soon after laying. All short races for me so they have had a maximum of 4 races and are away to their 5th tonight. They are still only out to 130 miles, but I didn't race them last year and they only had a few trainers at 15 miles.

Valley North Fraserburgh Open Valley North is a member club of Ayrshire North Road Federation. North Road racing in Scotland is unique to Ayrshire. The Federation began in 1999 / 2000 in Mauchline and has grown since to include 7 clubs. The racing is mainly sprint racing out to Thurso (200 – 230 miles). Valley Club has for some years organised a Lerwick Open race when the Federation programme suited the preparation. This year they decided that they would have to ensure their own preparation and have organised this Fraserburgh Open race. The race attracted 65 entries from 17 lofts within the Federation and also from the neighbouring county of Lanarkshire. From the size of the entry and the lofts represented you may appreciate the fact that North Road racing is not the normal or the most popular within Scotland, but this also serves to point out the effort made by the pigeons and the fanciers who entered the race. We were convoyed by the NRCC and wish to thank Stephen Spinks for the excellent care he gave our birds. They were liberated 30 minutes after the NRCC at 11.00. on Sunday 9th June and the race proved a test. The early birds were timed at 15.37., giving them a 4.5 hour fly, but many worked hard up to clock checking at 20.00. and later. Overall returns were excellent for such a small liberation of birds and I would estimate 75% - 85 % returns. The winner receives a Prize of £50 donated by Valley North Club and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes of £15, £10 and £5 vouchers were donated by Gibb of Galston, whom we also wish to thank for their sponsorship. We hope the returning pigeons are entered into our Lerwick Open race, basketing on Wednesday 19th June at 19.00. – 21.00. at the Thack Inn, Galston Road, Hurlford, KA1 5HG. This race will also be convoyed by the NRCC, but the liberation will not be separate due to the small amount of birds. The Lerwick race is acknowledged as a testing race, but for our birds, perhaps more so, in that, if they do not break at the correct time they could be flying up to 700 miles. We organise the Lerwick Open to allow us maximum North Road distance racing at around 340 – 370 miles into the Federation, but the fact is our birds will be achieving a tremendous feat of courage and distance racing. Anyone who is flying 300 miles to Lerwick is invited to enter. The result of the Fraserburgh Open race is listed. 1 R Taylor 15:37:33 171m 544y SU12AN2045CPH 1086.244 2 M J McCann 15:39:53 172m 155y SU09A5468 BFC 1082.159 3 Mick Hilland 15:42:46 172m 621y SU12B3269BH 1072.523 4 J L Dumigan 16:04:55 171m 594y SU10AN2271 CPC 988.921 5 J L Dumigan 16:07:19 171m 594y SU09AN1925 BC 981.198 6 J L Dumigan 16:07:59 171m 594y SU10AN2285GC 979.074 7 W McCann & A Brown 16:12:58 173m 1000y SU11AN1792CC 975.980 8 Mick Hilland 16:13:46 172m 621y SU12A6162CPH 966.578 9 W Johnstone 16:33:36 182m 137y SU11AN2101CPH 960.572 10 A Lymburn 16:22:15 175m 941y SU10AN1245GH 958.747 11 J Auld 16:22:52 175m 798y SU10A1273BH 956.038 12 J Brown 16:49:50 181m 1662y SU09AN902 CC 915.357 13 J L Dumigan 16:48:20 171m 594y SU10AN2218GC 865.666 14 W McCann & A Brown 17:07:49 173m 1000y SU09AN1681 BCC 830.450 15 W McCann & A Brown 18:06:20 173m 1000y SU10AN23I8BH 716.474 16 A Kyle 17:56:47 165m 99y SU10AN2035 BGH 697.002 17 M J McCann 18:21:25 172m 155y SU09AN180I BPH 686.145 18 J McKelvie 19:08:35 182m 400y SU11AN2183CC 656.406 19 A Kyle 18:40:19 165m 99y SU11AN1680BH 631.085 20 R Robertson 18:30:02 154m 897y SU10L14347CH 604.194 Ross Taylor wins £55-20 pools, Mark McCann wins £27-60 pools and Mick Hilland wins £9-20 pools.
