Again partly correct, but if the Federations worked together we could have sprint racing almost every weekend, middle distance starting a bit later, but running at the same time, 2 races per weekend, then the long distance starting and alternating with middle.

I think you are partly correct Danny. The Federation system was set up for south flying along traditional routes. We no longer use these routes on a regular basis and the fancy has changed in that some want sprint, middle or distance. It was set up however, to marry in with the National programme since distance was the single aim of all fanciers.

We are at Fraserburgh, the Welsh are at Pitsligo, but I can't remember when.

Dull, grey and overcast, been raining, but stopped just now.

4 Races North with Ayrshire North Road Fed and I have 6 left from 9 at the start. 33% losses. Raced out to 130 Miles. 5 Races South with Glasgow Fed on the East and I have 10 left from 23 at the start. 57% losses. Raced out to 180 Miles. Don't know if any of this is relevant, but it does show there are losses of similar magnitude no matter the direction you race. 5th North Race this weekend will be from 170 Miles and will give a fairer comparison by then. I appreciate the North losses are half the South losses, but the distance is different at the moment.

That's why Andy sent to Lerwick. We have decided a separate liberation hoping to make it easier for our pigeons because they do not have to break from a big flock, but they will still have to face the sea crossing and do so in a small convoy. For the south fliers, a very stern test for their pigeons, don't think it will be easy because it is only 340 miles, it won't be, but Andy proved it is possible.

Hi Derek I'm the shortest flier and Thurso is measured 201 miles, the longest will be around 231 miles. My club have put on open races in an attempt to promote Lerwick which will be around 340 miles to me and the furthest we can go north. we have organised 2 Fraserburgh races and a Thurso race as well as Lerwick. Good prize money on offer. Andy Eadie cleaned up last year.
