  2. Good morning all.
  3. They'll be thinking about the doos in the north east that could still beat them in the morning, so they'll not be sleeping tonight either.

  5. Good morning all.
  6. Nice day here in East Ayrshire, broken clouds, sunny skies.
  7. Happy birthday.
  8. No race on Saturday due to air show at Prestwick airport or some such, but racing from Portlethen 130 - 160 miles with Ayrshire North Road Fed on Sunday 29th. Next is Thurso 200 - 230 miles after a short comeback trainer.
  9. Weather on the channel is not taken into consideration, the UK pigeons only make up a tiny part of the entry; 500 into an entry of 15000 or some such.
  10. Glad it is back.
  11. Good John, did Robert sort it for you?
  12. You've read my post incorrectly Charlie. I stated that I thought that was Bigda's idea. I mentioned the BOP in South Ayrshire since that would probably be the arrival point in Scotland. You only have to look at the state of the fancy in Galloway area to see the decline which will no doubt be in part to the BOP situation. Why do Ayrshire pigeons arrive from southern race points in the direction of the north west coast? I don't think they are crap and follow the other pigeons causing them to retrace, I think they have found a way of circumnavigating the worst of the BOP combined to the Eastern race route the majority of them have raced.
  13. C'mon Novo, support Bigda and the Pilgrims.
  14. PM Novice. Robert lives in Beith. Other than that I could go over.
  15. Good morning all.
  16. Happy birthday Joan.
  17. Broken clouds, sunny spells, nice day here in East Ayrshire.
  18. BOP are as bad over there as they are over here. I think Bigda's point is that our pigeons wouldn't have to work through the Sperrins or wherever else they would be easy pickings and after crossing the Irish Sea into West of Scotland they could fan out to approach their home lofts without the channelling through the southern hills where the BOP again have easy pickings. Lots of BOP in Ayrshire, especially southern sections, but more leeway to escape. There is some sense in what he says. Kyleakin the Pilgrim.
  19. I'll race from Ireland, you organise it.
  20. Single up used to be advocated to find the pigeons that could navigate and to train them to be happy flying solo. Double up or triple up was advocated to give the pigeons a flying mate to race against thus speeding them up because single tossing definitely produced lower velocities. With this in mind, the larger the flock the faster they would fly once they build a 'head of steam', especially so with sprint style racing. With regards to training, do not put all your eggs in one basket. Train your pigeons in small batches to avoid complete loss from BOP attack. These are all comments that I have heard mooted by others, you decide, bearing in mind they only take into consideration numbers and no other factor, excepting the BOP attack.
  21. Happy birthday.
  22. Good morning all.
  23. Nicer today, broken clouds, blue skies, no rain and a bit warmer here in East Ayrshire.
