I think this is the case with a lot of secretaries. Both of my clubs are very similar, with the exception that others help carry out some of the tasks you have listed. The "wages" amount to no more than a gratuity. After performing all your hard work, here is a financial gift to allow you to treat your OH to a meal because you have not been available to them. The "work" performed was done because you enjoy your hobby. This should not be the case, however, if you pay a wage, then the costs to the members increases and given the age and financial circumstances, you may lose members and further increase the burden for those remaining. The only solution is to spread the workload. If every member does a little, then the secretary will have less to do and the "gratuity" will be more commensurate with the task.
