  1. Any GPS system is useless if it cannot be tracked live. I believe those that can be tracked live are extremely expensive and the battery life is short. The batteries need to charge from the sun or last a lot longer, but still be small enough and light enough not to cause a handicap.
  2. Ayrshire North Road federation, Stirling pigeons liberated at 12.00. into a light West South West wind. Good luck all.
  3. Good luck all.
  4. I think the biggest problem with this is the cost. Even if only a few in the convoy are tracked, it is costly if they are pinned by BOP. This will not become widespread until the cost comes down. Perhaps ETS ring manufacturers could look at this, if the cost wasn't prohibitive.
  5. Archie, this rule has been deleted and no longer stands. The problem is lack of communication. Information is not reaching the fanciers.
  6. Good luck all.
  7. A lot of fanciers caught on the hop Davy. The information regarding wing stamping or ID rings has not filtered down to fancier level. Very poor lines of communication. My club will be stamping from next week. We'll get there eventually.
  8. Good morning all.
  9. 5 Carrick members sent 72 pigeons; 2 Mauchline sent 20; 4 Stranraer sent 73 and 5 Valley sent 112. 16 Ayrshire North Road members sent 277 pigeons to Stirling, 30 - 90 miles, top to bottom of Fed. Good luck all.
  10. Good morning all.
  11. I think a lot are in this position Walter, but purse strings are tightening and people are having to reconsider.
  12. Good morning all.
  13. and now we know why it is so difficult to get anyone to fill these tasks. The other thing, not mentioned yet, is usually your own pigeons suffer and results drop. When the secretary gives up the job, it is noticed that their results begin to improve in a lot of cases.
  14. I think this is the case with a lot of secretaries. Both of my clubs are very similar, with the exception that others help carry out some of the tasks you have listed. The "wages" amount to no more than a gratuity. After performing all your hard work, here is a financial gift to allow you to treat your OH to a meal because you have not been available to them. The "work" performed was done because you enjoy your hobby. This should not be the case, however, if you pay a wage, then the costs to the members increases and given the age and financial circumstances, you may lose members and further increase the burden for those remaining. The only solution is to spread the workload. If every member does a little, then the secretary will have less to do and the "gratuity" will be more commensurate with the task.
  15. Good morning all.
  16. Well done all.
  17. This strengthens the argument for licensing liberation sites at National Governing Body level. If we carefully monitored the situation, and everyone raced down the same route, using the same liberation sites for a set period of time, we could notice a decline of raptors in the other areas whilst our liberation routes would see an increase. At the correct time, we then shift all the liberation sites to the other route and improve our racing due to the reduced number of raptors, whilst starving out the raptors on our old route. This has been advocated before, but the racing fraternity is so fragmented that an agreement will never be reached and that is why it has to be licensed at NGB level.
