    Rpra Fees

There was a proposition put in that £2 were to go on fee's towards the raptor alliance, dont know if this went through or not.
  2. OK Buster, be on your guard though................ http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/topic/16879-paratyphoid-can-it-be-stopped/page__hl__Paratyphoid
  3. My thoughts too. Believe in coincidence at your peril.

    Gem Feed.

Try the GEM All rounder or Breeding, these mixes are high in protein (if thats what your after) and they're a couple of quid cheaper than the Irish. I've started cutting down on numbers simply because the price of feed, its a joke what they're charging.
  5. I race 24 w/h cocks. The only downside to w/hood IMO is they dont cope with cold weather as well as hens. W/h cocks come into their own when they've got the sun on their backs.
  6. I often wonder if this is what they had in mind when they said they're cutting the force by 50%

  8. http://www.syndicatelofts.com/gerard-and-bas-verkerk-different-location-same-top-performances-part-2-of-4/ For 10 years the family Verkerk have been darkening the old pigeons (cocks and hens). In 2012… from early March until the end of April… and from 6 pm until 8 am the lofts were in semi-darkness. From the end of July they got extra light… from 5 am until 10 pm it was light in the lofts. They use ordinary energy saving bulbs… and not bulbs with nitrogen, as sometimes is suggested. After the last race, the lights are turned off… and at basketing for that last race, most pigeons have cast 4 to 5 flights. Because of the extra light, the flight feathers are changed usually… but the wing coverts are not cast.
  9. First feed consists of pellets/condition seed/breeding mix in equal parts then fed again 3-4 hours later with racing mix. Nothing is added to their water.
  10. Yes Andy. Feds should start getting together despite their indifferences, protect what you have the now because once its gone its gone.
  11. To give one definitive answer would be wrong so I'll give a few reasons but in no real order. Have lost good pigeons in the past chasing averages. The London Combine is all but finished. The Combine was our only means of sending to 500 miles and was regarded as our Blue Ribbon event. As Feds got smaller they started protecting what birdage they had by basically giving us sprint programs so much so that we dont have a Fed race over 200 miles any more. Consequently the distance pigeons and methods have made way for sprinters............... horses for courses. The Combine races are part of our averages, the die hards who still house distance pigeons invariably win the averages and good luck to them. I have found that closing down the loft for a week is better than any medication. As I've got older I've mellowed. Holidays are no longer planned around the racing season, family get togethers are now attended etc. etc. It works out I miss 3-4 races a year = out of averages.
  12. CLUB - Highest prize winner FED - to finish in the first 1% of the result as many times as I can - Aim to be the best old bird flier. COMBINE/AMALS - Win em AVERAGES - I have no intrest in.

    How Many

24 w/h cocks plus 9 pair which I intend to muck about with, no fixed plans for these yet.
  16. Its very rare that things turn out as planned Geordie. As the season goes on plans start to become unraveled. The experience you gain by trying to get things back on track is the making of a pigeon fancier................. the longer you race pigeons the more you can look back on past problems/solutions and hopefully adjust accordingly. If this game was easy lots of us would have chucked it in by now all the best.
  17. I remember you! your that daft cop that tried to fit me up on the burglary of that house yonder............... by gaining entry through the cat-flap.
