Trap them into their old loft then put them back into your w/h loft through the super trap.
  2. I’m dumbstruck you have made such a statement!
  3. I dont train my widowhood cocks throughout the week unless they should miss a race or two.
  4. I would recommend you start of by flying the natural system, you’ll learn a lot more a lot quicker and be able to find out the potential of your hens BUT you will have to train them a couple of times a week throughout racing. (Did I read somewhere you are only 15 years of age) If your not able to train them fly the cocks on widowhood. There is another system called roundabout but this may overcomplicate things for a new starter. Make things as simple as you can because you’ll have a lot to take in and you could end up not seeing the woods for the trees. Good luck.
  5. A minute can be passed in your fed now to stop it then make it a rule next year.
  6. I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave some moments ago.
  7. I'm looking at the big picture not individuals. What I see with my own eyes does me.
  8. The way I look at it is that lets say 75% of fanciers breed best to best, if whites or blacks were equal or better surely a good proportion of these would be found in 75% of lofts. Are they?
  9. Congratulations Wiley on becoming the latest member of the toughest club in the world PARENTHOOD. Yes young Wiley became a father this morning to a bouncing squeaker baby boy I wish the mum and baby well....... and you ya rascal......tie a knot in it
  10. My first priority would be getting them home. If your going to race roundabout or w/hood have them sitting eggs for your intended first race and remove the hens after that. The next 2 or 3 weeks just show them the nestbowl as you dont want them getting over excited whilst still novicey. I wouldn't expect to much from them early doors and those that do show promise I'd wrap in cotton wool.

    OCCUPATION

I used to clean bird $hit out of cuckoo clocks until it all dried up.
  12. Breaking my neck for a jimmy riddle just as the race birds are due home.
  13. The challenge.
  14. I have an old article written by J Redshaw from the International Pigeon World magazine on the National winning performance of Virgo. She won the young bird National (year 1986) out of Rennes when 1283 members sent 6240 pigeons. Her winning Velocity was 1068 ypm flying 392miles, she was sent feeding a 2 day old youngster. She was of Kirkpatrick breeding out of a mealy or red cock and the dam is described as a blue and white hen. Virgo herself is described as a white hen with slight grizzle.

    let think...

I would much rather sit at a table and talk pigeons with someone that holds views completely opposite to what I believe in than someone that holds the same views. If we all agreed just how dull would this site be.
  17. To me anything bred for colour over racing ability will always be inferior, a family of whites fall into this category but there again I wouldn’t condemn the odd white thrown.
  18. Think clocks that old only had a battery life of 5-7 years. Someone else might know for sure.
  19. Sorry I dont know the answer to that.

    lice

Having never seen any lice on a dead fly I guess it must work.
  21. The new ones 10 years I believe.
  22. As bigda says £100 is a good benchmark
  23. A lot would depend on how long before the battery needs replacing.
  24. RPRA rule 129 Race Programmes 129. All federations, combines, amalgamations and national Specialist Clubs and any club racing independently, shall prior to 1st March in each year deliver to the General Manager their race programmes for the year, including race dates, approximate liberation times and the telephone number of the controller of each race. Failure to do so shall result in a surcharge of £10. The General Manager shall draw up a list of all such race programmes and shall before 1st April in each year make the list available for publication in two newspapers devoted to the racing or showing of homing pigeons circulating nationally in the United Kingdom and have such list available for distribution to any of the said convoying organisations on request. Looking at this rule the RPRA doesn’t seem to differentiate between young birds and old birds, all they request is your race program. It is the fed that makes it a young bird and old bird program. I think the only way to get around this is to get it passed at fed level. If there's no rule to cover this (which to me there isn't) by making such a rule or minute you'll not be in contravention of any RPRA rules. Get it passed at your fed, problem solved.
  25. Have you found that a w/hood cock that takes a different nestbox to previous year/s races better, worse, or just as good lol or bad as the case may be.
