  4. I take it Vic that he hasn’t yet conceded you were right ;D
  5. Perhaps instead of the Homing World trying to make us believe alls rosy in the sport and instead gave us some investigative journalism it would put a lot of these rumours to bed

    hansenne

There's a fancier in Wales that still races the Hanssenne's , if the name comes to me I'll post it on here. The name Cunnicliffe rings a bell :-/
  7. Submerge her rear end in hot water and massage around the vent for about 10 minutes then pop a cod liver oil capsule down her throat. Place her in a basket and leave in a warm place. Repeat this every 2 hours or so, hopefully this will do the trick.
  8. 9/10 cases of going light end up with the pigeon dying a slow death. Remove it from the loft and if I were you I would get the pigeon tested asap. I would suspect E-coli.
  9. Grumble!!..............pigeon flyers grumble!...................never ;D
  10. I would suggest if you do have it slopping down from back to front you put guttering along the front to take the rain water away from the front of your loft.
  11. Wonder if he's been tango'd ;D
  12. Ol'e Yellow for the time being then
  13. In my club there's 22 members, on average 14 send per week. My club has a radius of 1 3/4 miles from our clubhouse. Birdage for the early races is around the 350 mark, this falls off the further into the season we go. Members lofts are in their gardens, I personally have three lofts. 24x6 which house 24 w/hood cocks, 10x6 which house 8 pair of naturals and my young bird loft measures 16x6 which houses between 30-40 y/birds.

    feeding

Nothing wrong with a bit of wheat and barley in the mix. Given the choice I would go for a high carb mix over a mix high in fats anyday. Much easier to supplement their diet with fats viz peanuts & hemp when you want them to take extra fats on board than it is trying to get them to take extra carbs on board.
  16. I think I've got a small book here somewhere that touches on the subject of milers. If my memory serves me right it was written by a J Pilling.

    racing

Have a look at the feds race programmes near you chrisss, most have comeback races 3/4 of the way through their programmes to allow fanciers to get later y/birds started

    racing

If It at all possible I would recommend you give them a couple of races as y/birds.
  20. I would say the best north rd flyers in London are A & R Tubey. Dagenham Essex.
  21. It could be argued that sprint racing is won by A: at the lib point & B: the last few miles from home. I think the Idea of this training regime is to cover both bases. By training them on the so called line of flight you are teaching them to come out of the basket and head straight for home without even circling and repeatedly covering the last few miles.
  22. Tried it and found my pigeons hated the taste so slung it.
  23. Ventilation would be a problem but I think putting a few domes on the roof like the ones on top of caravans could solve that.
