  1. delbars are great pigeons as they are good allrounders,a friend use to have some, think he got them from louella at the time but won on the first race also won 500mls with them aswell, agree with t.t on the busschearts aswell but they were not a pure breed like the janssens as george busscheart got the fastest pigeons he could at the time and fetched them back to england with him as belguims specialised in sprint races at the time but we didnt.
  2. like the blue flighyys ray, they all look like pictures, what breed are they mate.
  3. training young birds is a about getting them from A to B in the quickest possible time, they get fit through good care and flying out, sending them on 30 ml tosses will not necesarraly beat the ones trained at 8 mls,its all about getting them home fast.
  4. i think hens might do a better job as they always seem to be there as young birds.
  5. an old fancier once told me the longer cast the pigeon is the better it will be at the distance, the the heavy built ones with a short back wing will be the sprinter,i found this to be quit true, dont know what others think though.

    Grizzle Yb's

yes i know of one,he has the best of roland janssens long before massarella bought them, they are grizzles and whites and are super sprinters aswell. They call him john mellor, tel 01484 543234 or email johnmellor5@netscape.net he sells them pretty cheap aswell.
  8. i put them in wednesday morning and leave them in till thurseday afternoon, that should be enough ,if you put different ones in every day your just waisting money as once the body as taken all the goodness it needs it rejects the rest of the other vits you carry on putting into them as it has no need for them.Think about it.Try using a vitaminised pellet and mix it in with your corn it is well balanced out correctly for your birds and it wont cost you as much as the bottled stuff,i use game bird pellets for my bird and they love them as there is a lot of vibre in them as well and they look brilliant on them.
  9. you have hit the nail on the head ribble,i agree with you 100%.
  10. The only time i train widowhood cocks is when they start to go on the drive, all they are interested in is there hen and they come like bullets fighting to get through the door altogether, once the hen lays her first egg the training stops.
  11. have you tried hens on widowhood, they will beat cocks when fit.
  12. Just think its swings around year by year, ive bred from the same pigeons for a few years now and i breed more hens in 2004 and then last year i bred a lot more cocks.
  13. i think its a product for cleaning the liver in the pigeons and all the so called toxins they have in there blood.
  14. Love those perches, but as peckedhen says you will need very tame young birds to be able to catch them for basketing,or just for looking at.but i really do like the idea .
  15. i like no 5,ill guess it is a good races and has bred winners with cocks with pearl eyes, ?
  16. C.Ds or try and get dummy owls they work wonders.1994 a sparrow hawk stopped me flying my birds for the full season ,even my widowhood cocks were half an hour behind the winners in our club and when aproaching the loft would just gain hight and fly around before they finally dropped, a friend told me to get a dummy owl and the hawk changed its line of flight but the birds were just to scared to re start racing them.Good luck Matey
  17. What does the most winning in widowhood cocks or wich you you prefer, the small to medium widowhood cock or the larger type of widowhood cock.wich are better.
  18. chris that sounds a bit boasty. Theres a lot of bright fanciers out there with a lot of experience with pigeons.
  19. I once had two red cheqs breed two buetifull pencil blue cocks,i coudnt believe my eyes as the pair was my top stock pair at the time so were kepy seperate in a section on their own so nothink could have treaded the hen.
  20. yes you can, i have a red, mealy family of janssens and have had mealy cocks breed mealy cocks, dont know if its down to an inbred family that i have but they do breed red cheqs aswell,i have read books on this subject and it says that you carnt , but i have many times.
