  4. i use straw, use to use tobacco stalks but they build there nests to deep and lost some valuable eggs with it in the last 2 years so i only use straw now and line the bowls out with easy bed.Les

Jason i agree with steve on this one,if you have got the birds and ime sure you have has i have seen your web site, you need time for your birds aswell bud,ive 3 kids aswell but i also tend to my birds as well as i can it works both ways bud.Try to motivate yourself again and get back winning them 1st feds again.Les

  9. also i forgot to mention i had my youngsters poisoned that year so never completed the young bird programme or i think i would have done well in them aswell.
  10. flew birds that were given to me at first, they flew decent but i wanted more than that, end of that year i got some busschearts and then some janssens from louella, then still only flew moderate. Then one day i was last in the club comming 31st with a blue hen and one pigeon bloke commented that i would not win a race while i had an hole in my ass, that really gutted me that night,so it kinda woke me up as i swore to kick his ass the following year,i bought the book "loft ,stock & Barrel from blackpool year 1993 and put it all into practice what i read and learnt over the winter months, that year on widowhood with yearling i won a few races in club and 2bird clubs and with the youngsters i got 52 cards that year winning 5 out of 8 races including other prizes aswell also winning the 2 bird club nearly every week, never really looked back since, anyway that same fancier never said nowt to me again and later backed up. ;D its not always the birds that are bad,but lack of knoledge from the fancier.Les
  11. Thanx bud
  12. Were at Kensington Hotel, get to chat to all the top dutch fanciers as they come to our hotel as Tony Bates guests who we go with.
  13. was thinking of ordering it but was unsure how the contents would be.
  14. Dont worry about pigeons with frills,if they breed the goods or fly very well then keep it that way, dont change the way you breed just to get rid of the frills.Any way it makes them look different.
  15. but you also need to know if its the hen thats carrying the winning genes aswell.
  16. my no1 stock cock ive had the pleasure of owning had a frill on the front of his chest like a dicke bow,he bred 18x1st prize winners, and his children bred winners aswell and also carried this trate,he was a son of stamvater 76 & sheer elegance from louella, dont know weather its with line breeding as i never did when i had him,i always out crossed his line into other janssens which made them faster,i use to have the linde du pye janssens fron holland and they just seemed to go well into his line, any one everheard of these ?
  17. IF I HAD BIG HENS IN MY STOCK LOFT I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY,THERE THE BASE TO YOUR LOFT.
  18. Totally agree, was going to say that before i saw this remark, were are you going to go if a cock or hen carnt breed winners with different cocks or hens, then you wonder why you see lofts racing there heads off for years then to dissapear without trace, thats why ,they keep the same pairs together and once there gone there performances are gone with them.dont be silly and keep the same pairs together,be brave and skilled and try them with other birds or the only way your going is DOWN.
  19. Think we will get over this year.

    Stock birds

never ever vaccinated my stock birds,we have had pigeons for many years and stock birds have never been vaccinated because it is a load of crap saying they need doing,if there was anythink wrong with them they wouldnt even get in my loft.Keep em natural, they will breed for many years.
  21. only do this sort of breeding with your very best breeders, and then keep an eye on their offspring as then you will tell when its time to put another line into them, all goes with practice and expierience on how well you know your own family,if its a new breed then i would just breed best to best until you get a winning line from them.Les
