  1. Unfortunately young birds make mistakes roland especially as it was her first time in a basket with 4000 + pigeons. Birds do make mistakes and become champions, i have birds that prove that. If i killed everything that made a mistake once then where would we be. I can assure you it wont continue in that vain. I think we all would like a loft full of winners but that just doesnt exist im afraid. The problem i have with this is that yes someone has obviously had the bird in, all my birds are wing stamped so why not pick up the phone to let me now that without having to steal what is not rightfully theres. £1.25 is £1.25 when you have to buy 60 rings then it mounts up. Im sorry but other fanciers birds come to my lofts with ets rings on, i will always feed them up, let the fancier know and leave the ets ring on. I spend thousands a year in this sport giving the best feed, training, etc and dont think its right for others to take what is rightfully not theres. Jas.
  2. Whats wrong with some fanciers. I have 6 birds away from saturdays race, one came back today minus its ets ring. It just winds me up that someone can get in someone elses birds and have the cheek to steal a £1.25 ets ring. All i can say is who ever you are you aint no gentleman fancier. just scum in my eyes. Jas.
  3. HI tom. Yeah thats no problem mate. Paul i hear what you are saying about how things are done when theres people present. Im a good judge of people i manage people in my day job and i can generally tell someone who is doing it just for the person whos present. I had birds in on saturday and lost 6 and they were all split up. All i can do is call it like i see it im afraid. Glad you all liked the video. Jas.
  4. you would think there is an advantage but there isnt, all the birds circled the liberation site at the same time and they all left at the same time except for some stragglers which didnt come out of the basket, when there 4000 plus bird in the air they stay as a bunch, and they leave as a bunch. the good thing about the automatic transporter is the birds on the bottom rows dont get knocked to the floor and injured like in the transporters when they all exit together. jas
  5. Hi all. On saturday the 24th of july 2010 i had the please of attending the liberation of the welsh north road youngbirds from swindon. First i would like to thank chris coleman and his convoying team for the opportunity to visit such a sight. So this is my report. I arrived in swindon at 7am and met with chris and his team in a lay-by across the road from the liberation site. The transporters were parked in a well shaded area out of the way of the morning sun. All birds looked really well and all birds had water present and had been watered hours earlier. I was very impressed by the way the team looked after the birds all shutters and covers were up allowing all the fresh air to circulate within the transporters. We were in the lay by until approximately 9.30 before we headed off to the liberation site. In that time the transport team made regular attempts to get the birds to drink by swishing the water around and replenishing it. Some birds drank others didnt, you can lead a horse to water but cant make them drink. I took temperature reading out side the transporter and inside the baskets. The difference being 3 degrees higher in the baskets, the outside temperature was 21 degrees, basket temperature 24 degrees, well within safe tolerances that can cause dehydration. As i said the birds looked really well. At around 9am the decision was made to cut all the seals and move to the liberation site ready for the liberation. All water was finally removed and the transporters were secured up before we left for the site. Unfortunately the car park that we use for liberation was extremely full and we had to take a slight detour to an alternative site that chris knew of. In fact the site we liberated from was better that the original site. We arrived around 9.40 ish and the birds were allowed to settle before liberation. The team did a great job in preparing the birds prior to liberation. All baskets were given there final check and chris briefed the team on the liberation. The birds were liberated and all left the site fairly quickly. Theres been lots of false accusations and rumours going around about the way the birds are being looked after during transportation to the liberation site. I would like to set the record straight and i can guarantee everyone that the team did an exceptional job in looking after the birds. I was really impressed by the way chris managed his team and looked after the birds. Yes there has been issues with poor racing this year, we all agree with that but the reasons are not with how the birds are looked after. I would like to again thank chris for his hospitality and i would recommend to any fancier who hasnt seen a liberation in the flesh to attend one, it was really an eye opener. Below is a video i shot of the liberation. I hope you all enjoy it as much as i did making it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAyIw-26kYY Jas.
  6. derek flowers on 2.42 im told.
  7. Hi paul. I have moved away from chepstow for training as birds were getting hit by peregrines and goshawks to often. I moved over to raglan and monmouth now and get excellent tosses from there with no issues. i train around 2pm to try and avoid all the other birds in the sky in the evenings. so far had excellent toss apart from on wednesday when i thought i lost the lot when 2 came on there own, but the others followed a little later.
  8. Just give them some time, rest does wonders for them. If they dont want to fly theres something wrong. Have your droppings tested, just because they look ok doesnt mean they are. I'm a firm believer that healthy pigeon want to fly, thats what pigeons do, if they dont then theres something wrong, flagging them wont make them better, trust me ive been there and tried that. Give them a few days rest and they will surprise you. Also make sure they are not over fed and are not fed on a food thats to high in protein as that will have an effect on them to. Good luck. Jas.
  9. Hi rich. How did you get on today mate, anymore home? Jas.
  10. Is that today aaron or is that over a course of a weeks?
  11. Theres not a lot you can say about performances like that that hasnt already been said. Winning 2 nationals on one weekend is very special but to win them at 500 miles is extraordinary. It doesn't surprise me that derek has done this he's a fantastic fancier and deserves everything he has done. its up there with some of the best wins into wales. Well done again to both derek and clive. Jason edwards.
  12. No wayne. finished old birds to concentrate on youngsters. You had anything yet? Hi tom is that a confirmed win for derek. Also tom do we know if derek won saverne on friday with the wse national. I know he had a good bird but theres been no confirmation on that as such yet. cheers. Jas.
