Thats the problem the less fanciers there are to buy them the more expensive they become.

Have you noticed the picture bbc iplayer are using to promote the program. Doesnt it wind you up. Jas.

I dont see the point of it, it cost money on all that electricity with all the added hassle, This will be my 20th season doing darkness and i wouldnt change it for any other system. Owen is very right though about the ventilation you have to keep airflow right, dont sacrifice your ventilation as you will pay the price later on. Jas.

This is the sort of thing boddy and ridewood need to start doing if they want to stay in business, just a quick thread to let people know whats happening, its good customer service and thats what you get when you purchase from taylors ' GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE'. Thanks for letting everyone know. Cheers. Jas.

I had one this year and i dont think its calcium deficiency as my birds get matrix grit everyday and they get a calcium and vit d supplement in there water 3 times a week at least a month before pairing. My bird still cant fly and is now sitting on youngsters. I have had to lock them away in there box now. So really dont now whats the problem is. normally if its calcium its there legs that go, i've never had wing issues. this has been with this hen for 5 weeks now, so not looking good for her after she has finished rearing, She is fine and healthy other than that. very strange?

I would have both, a concrete floor under the wire floor so you can then hose it down easier.

Been on a filled it in. What i would say regarding this is its important that we dont just take the angle of it our pigeons that are suffering, we have to talk about all the songbirds too as theres a big decline in those and we dont want it to look one sided from our perspective. well done. Lets support this. If everyone on here took the time to fill it in we would have an excellent start. Jas.

why and how to cure twisted neck problem?
holmsidelofts replied to mamun2a's topic in Help - What's wrong with my bird?
they have been together, what ever the white one has the others will have shortly, It could either be PMV or salmonella as doth can cause the twisted kneck syndrome. as others have said the best cure is the bin otherwise everything will get. -
very good quality at a reasonable price, i use gem breeding and also gem g10 pellets. have used them since 2008. would recommended. Jas.

exactly budgie, All henry is doing is selling rubbish to gullible fanciers who in most cases dont know any better. -

What amazes me over this guy is if you look at the votes on the poll theres still 18 people who said they would buy from him, some people obviously like throwing money and time away. goes to show how easily people are fooled by what they read in the BHW. Jas -
exactly right mick. if it was as easy as just buying good birds everyone would be champions, theres lots of factors in being at the top, yes good birds are part of it but they wont win without good management, good health and a good loft.

That quest for 1st national, got 2nds and 3rds, toped the fed, combine and open, just need that 1st national now, but can seem to get the big 1, maybe this year hopefully will be a turning point for us, Dont really need motivation as a just love the sport of racing pigeon, the thrill of watching them come home after training and racing and the challenges of trying to improve each year. only a couple of weeks away now, yippee!!!!!!!!! Jas

Bird causing bother in loft
holmsidelofts replied to pigeonforce's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Hi Daryl. for me there would only be one solution im afraid and thats the dustbin, All you'll find is he will upset everyone else, dont risk the rest of them for one bird its not worth it no matter how well he's bred. jas. -
What we do is let them out for 5 to 10 minutes then get them in, keep doing that until they are confident of going in and out of the trap. as others have said keep them a little hungry at first so you have control over them. When i want to call them in i put there food tray on the floor, fill it with corn and call them in, this is done everytime they go out, if they dont come in then they dont get fed, sounds harsh but good trapping is where races are won or lost these days, what you are doing is conditioning them to know as soon as the trap is open that there food is there ready for them, they learn very quickly that way. Jas.

The advert should put people off but it doesnt, when im looking to bring in fresh blood it has to come from birds that are winning now, not 20 years ago, none of the lionheart blood doesnt exists now but thats what he is trying to convince people he his selling, the races he quotes are from the 80's again why would you be fooled into thinking you were getting quality birds, as others have said he hasnt raced in 30 years so all you are buying is from a long line of non racing birds, you have just as much chance of winning by collecting street pigeons from your local town. and if others peoples views who have visited his lofts are anything to go by the street pigeons are healthier. I would stay well away. spend your money at places like formula 1 lofts and get some goods birds for your money. Jas. -
