  11. okay you lads are having problems and i know cumbria is very bad , i have a good hen of mine into a kendal loft from a bad race fae rotherham 2 yr back which when tossed wouldnt face the hills to home and returnd to the lad , i told him to keep her so maybe she done him some good, she was off a bad race from rotherham where we had cold easterlies, i picked another one up at blantyre from the same race, good birds that knew where home was, it wasnt just cold wind , they were disrupted in flight which put them accross country way off line o flight, glasgow n lanark natural line o flight is up the west fae your racepoints which is logical, you lads going east is crazy going by where you live, i know ill get stick for that he he ,the dog leg is rediculous to say the least from east to some lofts, anyway to get back to the thread, its just about time for the seagulls to start nesting on our house roofs and they are hatching round about the time our y/birds coming out, we had two knocked down and killed last year when flying to close to a nesting pair o gulls and by the way they are also a protected species, i give up. yours in sport davy. ps . i could go on but the wife is givcing me earache.

  15. thanks dwh, where could i get the stuff you described.
  16. looking at your loft setup i think you dont need anymore ventilation jhonny, i am in the north of scotland and i dont have vents close to ground for vermin reasons, you get cold you get problems with pests as far as feathered freinds are concerned, the doos come into good codition with cold, measure your feed to an ounce a bird and they will be right for pairing up, driving rain is the worst thing, put shutters up, copld wind wont hurt. hope it helps davy.
  17. no 1 for me but hey, they are all worthy candidates for the crown.
  18. if your not sure then its best to lighten the feed by adding barley or give just the barley for say a week,, at an ounce a bird a day,or just reduce what you are feeding to the ounce, after the moult its all they need and if they are getting out then they will not be fat, hope it helps davy.
